I was listening to Britt Nicole's You on the radio one night and was like, "Hey. That's kinda like Edmund's situation…" And then there was his comment that "I've seen what the White Witch can do. And I've helped her do it." That plus the lyrics (plus a comment from another FF author after I commented on not being able to write songfics) got me thinking writing about a songfic. Started writing it on August 15, 2007 and finished/posted it September 20, 2007. Then I deleted it to fix it and reposted it October 16th, 2007. Yeah, spent like two months on it, but that's because I was lazy and forgot about it.

It might be okay, or it might stink, but that's up to you, the readers.

Yes, the pairing says Aslan and Edmund, but it's NOT slash. More like friendship. You don't call your relationship with Christ slash or anything, do you? I should hope not. He's more like a friend. Edmund's just reflecting on Aslan taking his place and how he was a dork and turned away. Basically, it's how we should all see Christ and our lives if we've strayed. Christ sacrificed Himself for us, and we should be thankful. Totally not a sexual thing, people.
Just to clarify.

I've been looking for love in another's eyes
Searching for water, but I come up dry

Thought that I could find
Happiness in the world's applause
Peace of mind in a worthy cause

The White Witch had captivated him, had consumed his thoughts. All he wanted was to make her happy and become King of Narnia. He would do anything to please the lonely, spellbinding woman who had given him warmth and Turkish Delight.

Take me back, take me back
Got to trust in the simple truth
Got to trust all I really need is

(Chorus)
You
I'm coming back to
You
The only thing I know worth living for
Will You take this heart and make it more like
You
I give it back to You
It's obvious no one could love me more
I'm Yours
I'm coming, coming back, yeah
I'm coming, coming back

Now, looking back, he only wanted to be forgiven. He wanted the shame, the pain to disappear so he could be the same person he had once been.

To joy that speaks to my deepest need
To arms never far out of reach
Yeah, how Your love it
Calls to me when I loose my way
Holds me close when I feel afraid
Take me back, take me back
Got to trust that I'm safe and sound
Got to trust that it all comes down to

Now, finding out what Aslan had done, he knew he was forgiven. He knew the wrong had been undone; the Lion's sacrifice had wiped his slate clean and made him white as snow, blameless, free of his burden.

So no more getting caught in the middle
No more waiting for what is unsure
Back to Your love so true and so simple
Don't understate it or complicate it

It's so simple, yeah, it's so simple

(Chorus – 2x's)

You, coming back to You, You coming back
You, coming back to You, You coming back
You, coming back to You, You coming back
You, coming back to You, You coming back

I'm Yours, I'm Yours, yeah, yeah
I'm Yours, I'm Yours, yeah, yeah

He knew now that he would never again turn away from his 'destiny,' that he would always remain loyal to the Lion, no matter what happened.

Not even 150 words, and not exactly a songfic, but was inspired by a song. I just couldn't get my brain to come up with the right words between the lyrics. It felt weird. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. I can fix it again if you guys don't think it works. Anyway, I don't really mind if you don't comment or anything, but I'd like you a lot if you did. :-D
