Anakin, no, Darth Vader stepped into the room, hand on the hilt of his lightsaber. His blood curdled at the thought of coming here again. To the Jedi Temple. A place of lies and half truths about freedom and peace and fairness, in reality, they were the unfair ones. The Jedi were the reason the galaxy was chaotic and disordered. So now, he was going to pull out his lightsaber, and murder Jedi younglings.

Anakin now knew that peace was a delusion of the weak-minded, that fairness and justice would never exist. Only hatred and fear. So Anakin was going to kill in the Jedi, in order to become a strong-minded Sith.

Was he? Did he really want to do that, considering he himself had been a Jedi youngling once? a little nagging voice in the back of his head asked.

Anakin pushed the voice away, telling himself that this needed to be done for the good of the galaxy. It was just like any other mission he and Ahsoka or Obi-Wan had been sent on-

Okay, he seriously needed to stop thinking like that. He was about to murder Jedi. Anakin didn't think he'd be able to stomach it if he thought of his Jedi friends the entire time.

Inside the room, there was a group of boys, maybe eight or nine, cowering behind chairs. Anakin could sense their fear.

Upon seeing him, one of the little boys got up and walked over to Anakin.

"Master Skywalker," he cried, using the title Anakin had dreamed of for so long. "There are too many of them. What are we going to do?"

Anakin took a deep breath. He was not going to cry; he was not going to cry.

"Sith," he muttered under his breath, vaguely aware that he'd just cursed himself.

Why did it have to be children?

Anakin took a deep breath, and it was not him that drew the lightsaber, it was Darth Vader.

It was not Anakin that murdered the child that stood in front of him, the child that trusted him, it was Darth Vader.

But it was Anakin who turned his back for a second, to stare at the small pile that had been a child only moments before. It was Anakin who paused for a second, allowing one child to run away.

But as he killed more and more, he started to feel more like the powerful Sith Lord Darth Vader, and less like the Jedi Anakin Skywalker, who had once been a little boy.
