My Everything

Dear Miku Hatsune,

Do you remember? I tipped my hat like a friendly gentleman and said, "If you buy me ice cream, you will be my everything."

You giggled sweetly, and in a voice of melody and charm, said, "Even I don't become your everything, I won't buy you ice cream."

"Why not?" I was naïve, used to getting my special way. You blushed and said,

"I have my everything, already."

I knelt. "Describe him."

"Oh, stranger, he's a sweet man, a man with promise, with love. He went overseas and swore he'd come back. He is fighting for our country, but I know he'll come back for me, for my heart is with him. He is my everything, my everyone, my life."

Those words, those tender, beautiful words, made my life. I left. Two years later, I was walking back again, and I saw you, crying on a bench.

"Sweet lady, what's wrong?"

"My everything, stranger. My everything died. He died with my heart, so I shall soon follow."

I held your frail, gentle hands.

"You are fighting for your life, but I know you'll survive, for my heart is with you. You are my everything, my everyone, my life."

You looked up, tears in your beautiful turquoise eyes.

"I am your everything?"

"Yes, sweet lady. You are my everything. If you die, I shall soon follow."

"Well, stranger, what is your name?" You had a small smile on your face.

"I am Kaito Shion."

"And I, Miku Hatsune."

Do you remember, my lovely lady? I bought you ice cream and we ate it, savoring each other's presence and the sweet treat. Time and I, we worked together to heal you. But it wasn't enough, the seas and war had taken your heart.

I am standing over your grave, a reminiscent smile on my face. I am going to fold this letter and put it on the dirt. Where it goes, I don't know. As for me, I don't know either.

Engraved in the stone it says, 'Miku Hatsune, my everything, my everyone, my life.'

-Love from, Kaito Shion
