Here's a Family
Jonathan Switcher rolled over on to his side, releasing a loud and dramatic sigh. It was morning and he was still sleepy, but he knew he had to get up. For some reason, there was something missing. When he opened his eyes, Emmy wasn't there next to him. He was about to panic, but then the scent of breakfast touched his nose and he sat upright in the bed. Sometimes he forgot that he and Emmy lived together now.
Removing himself from the bed, Jonathan made his way out of the room, quickly heading to the kitchen where he knew his wife would be. However, before he could reach his destination, his three year old daughter, Amelia Switcher, came barging out of her own room and blocking his path. Jonathan released a howl of surprise and almost tripped over her.
"Daddy!" the little girl cheered, clapping her tiny and chubby hands. There was a bright smile on her baby features and she bounced up and down on her small feet. Amelia looked exactly like her mother, but had her father's eyes. The baby girl was really sweet and never fussed or cried that much. She was always smiling and always happy. Ever since she was born, she had been a happy baby.
"Hey, Amelia." Jonathan quickly got over his surprise and bent low, scooping the girl up into his arms and holding her close to his body. Instantly, the baby girl tried to grab his nose, but Jonathan jerked his head away, not wanting her to grab it. He remembered what happened last time and did not want to experience that again; the pain.
Amelia pouted. "I want mommy," she said. "Whewe is she?" she asked.
"In the kitchen," Jonathan informed her, walking to the kitchen with his child in his arms. "Let's go say good morning."
"Yay!" Amelia cheered.
Jonathan brought his daughter to the kitchen and immediately caught the sight of his wife, Emmy Switcher, preparing breakfast for their family. Amelia squirmed out of her father's arms and Jonathan rapidly put her on the ground before she could fall. The little girl stumbled and ran toward her mother.
"Mommy!"
Surprised, Emmy turned around and saw her daughter coming at her. Her daughter crashed into her legs and her little arms wrapped around her legs. "Mommy!" she cried again, grinning from ear to ear. "Mommy, I missed you!"
"I missed you too, darling!" Emmy gushed, reaching down and picking up her baby. "I love you!"
Amelia gigged and wrapped her arms around her mother's neck happily. Jonathan just stood back and watched, putting his hands into his pockets. The love he held for his family was not describable in any way. It went beyond any other love he had experienced. He loved them so much and he always will.
Grinning to himself, Jonathan walked over to his family, putting his arms around the both of them and giving them kisses. Emmy and Amelia kissed him back and the family shared their moment together in complete peace.
