Title: Saying Goodbye
Summary: A character from the O.C. is attending the funeral of someone.
Readers job: This is kind of a mystery for you. You have to try and figure
out who the person is that is attending the funeral, and who it is that
they know that died.
As he drove along the unusually deserted road a thousand thoughts raced through his mind. Someone he knew was dead, gone forever. At eighteen he was much too young to be attending a funeral of someone his own age.
Spotting the sign for the Shady Tree cemetery, he pulled in. He parked his car behind a dozen of others whose owner's were already at the burial. Closing the door to his car, he hopped out and started walking up the hill that would lead him to the burial.
When he was only a few steps short of reaching the top of the hill he stopped. He new that when he reached the top he would be able to see the burial; the graves, the people crying, and the casket. There was two things that could be done here. If he walked a few more feet there would be no turning back, he would be able to see the burial, and it would be forever etched in his mind. If he decided to walk back to his car and leave, he would have no memory of this event, it would be like it never happened.
He walked up the hill. There was really only one choice. He had to go, if he didn't it would bother him forever. It was already bad enough that he had missed the service. He didn't think that he would have be able to sit in the church and hear people share their stories and memories, it would have been too much. But he would attend the burial. He would say goodbye one last time.
Finally he made it to the top of the hill. He looked down at the burial that was taking place. The millions of graves, the flowers, the crying people. And most of all the casket of his girlfriend.
