Findio could not understand a word of the judge's talk. However, he knew far too well what this case was all about: a massacre on the local people, all conducted by one of his own people: a Veledosian named Medketa Netsaken.
Findio had been briefed on what could be expected to happen to this man. Death sentence was seemingly inevitable. The Ancients, disgusted by what one of their people had done, did not object, albeit they would have wanted the execution to be carried out on their soil on Veledos, not this far away from home.
Findio did not know what to think of this. He had never agreed that death sentence would help anything; it was merely a path of revenge, especially in this case, and revenge would never bring anything good. Hatred was all that ever survived.
This had not been the first time in his life that he had found himself disagreeing with the Ancients. Given that he was still young, Findio suspected that this would not be the last time, either.
As Medketa merely grinned and laughed at the charges, Findio decided that perhaps this once death sentence was the right thing to do.
Perhaps.
But why have this man executed on their own soil which already bore countless of liters of blood of the killed, both innocent and guilty?
Nevertheless, while Findio did disagree with the Ancients, he believed that ultimately they would be the best guides to his people. Disagreements could always be discussed and morals adapted.
Indeed, Findio trusted that the Ancients would watch other his people and guard them the best they could.

In utter horror, Findio stared at the feed of images the media was pushing out on what had happened to Veledos as the ending of Unwanted War. Poison everywhere, corpses, dying people, poisoned soil and air...
Findio had thought that upon seeing what had happened on the spot, he had already gotten used to the reality his failure had caused: the destruction of his home world.
He had been chosen by the Ancients, yet the ethereal beings had not responded to his call for aid when they had been needed. Now that his mission to save his people had failed in such ultimate fashion, it was probably for the best to follow the exiles and disappear until the end of his time.
Although, his disappearance would hurt his lover, that Findio was certain about. Daa-Rei would never leave like he was going to, no. He would stay and do his best to help everyone, find suitable places for the exiles and help those who were not going to disappear at least just yet.
An updated casualty number made Findio feel sick. He had to shut the feed down. When he had finished his training as the next Shi-Sha, the guardian of his people, he could have never imagined a massacre like this. Not only that billions had died already, but they had also lost their planet. The nature, all the fauna and flora, poisoned to death.
They had not lost just countless of lives. They had lost everything.
All because he and the Ancients had failed them.
There was nothing left for him anymore, Findio knew. It was time to move on and abandon everything permanently.
Even the failed Ancients.
