It was another bright, sunny day aboard the Celsius, same as usual – complete with Brother trying to make yet another sad move on Yuna.
"So Yuuu-na, what do you say? You want to go dring-king with me?"
"Um, not really, Brother."
"But Yun-aa!"
She sighed, looked down, and put a hand to her forehead. "Brother, I think it's time we had a talk."
Brother nodded vigorously, gesticulated wildly. "What about?"
Yuna walked to the hallway behind the bridge. She sat down against the wall, patted a spot beside her. Brother scrambled to fill it.
"Brother, you're Rikku's brother, right?"
"Yes…"
"And Cid's son."
"Yes…"
"And Cid's sister was my mother."
His attentive position was beginning to flag. "And…"
"So we're first cousins."
Brother scratched his head. "What are you getting at?"
"Don't you realize what kind of fucking FREAK that makes you?"
Time passed. Brother looked at the ground, at his feet, and back at Yuna. "I don't get it."
"Never mind. Hey, guess what. Paine said she has a crush on you!"
"Really?!"
"Yeah! Go talk to her about drinking. I'm sure she'll be up for it."
Brother jumped up, made a false start in either direction, and finally ran off towards the lift.
Yuna sighed and leaned her head back against the wall. She smiled as a thought struck her, and started counting. Before she got to one twenty there was a yell, followed by a screech, a crash, and a thud. She closed her eyes and grinned.
She was still grinning when Paine sat down beside her with a sigh. "You really had to do that, didn't you?"
"Well, not really. But yeah. Really."
"I could really hurt you."
"I know."
A pause. "You at least didn't tell him that he'd have better luck with Rikku."
"That would have been too traumatizing. For her."
"And us."
"Yeah."
"Think we can set him loose on LeBlanc next?"
Yuna laughed. "Sounds like a plan to me!"
