"Dean... I... I need some time." said Henry. Dressed in a modern suit, Henry looked like a man going to a black tie event. "There is someone I need to see." he said. By the look on his face, Dean nodded. "You have your keys, go man. " said Dean. Henry thanked his grandson and left.
Taking the impala, Henry drove to Wooden Heights, Senior center"Yes... Millie Winchester, Please... I'm Henry... Her grandson" he said with a smile. The woman didn't bat an eye. In fact, she smiled. "You look just like your Dad, it's scary!" she said. "We normally don't let visitors in at this time... But Millie? She-..." The woman got teary eyed. "We don't know if she'll make the night" she said, grabbing a tissue. "I felt it was necessary for me to meet her. My... Father skipped out on me when I was eight." he said. The woman patted his arm. "Room 107, hon." said the woman. Henry nodded and picked up the flowers-pink roses were Millie's favorite- and headed towards the room.
Greeted by an attendant, Henry was surprised to see Millie sitting up with only oxygen. But she was thin. But still, her eyes were that same vibrant green Henry had fallen in love with. "Hen...Ry?" Millie asked, her tiny hand struggling to put on her glasses. Henry rushed over and assisted her with setting the golden rims on the bridge of her nose. "Shhh... Yes. It's Henry. I've come home, Millie... I'm so, so sorry that I left." he said, kissing her hand. The elderly woman before him smiled. With tears in her eyes, Millie smiled. "I never lost hope. I knew you'd return to me. I didn't know what to do... I didn't know enough to tell John what you really did for a living... Letting him believe you walked out was the worst thing I could have done..." she said, tears flowing down her translucent skin. Henry pressed his forehead against hers. "It's alright... Our son grew up to be a fine man. He had two sons: Dean and Sam. They're nice boys." he said, opening his wallet. Millie beamed. "They have yours and John's eyes... Such handsome boys" she said. Fighting back his own tears, Henry saw the wedding ring around her neck. She'd kept it all these years. Choking up, Henry took a hold of the ring and looked on the inside. "Henry's heart" was still there. "Millie, I love you. I never stopped. I am so sorry-" Millie cut Henry off. "Do not worry, my Love. God has answered my prayers. I have..." Millie took a long breath. "Been reunited with the love of my life. One/last/time" she said, tears forming in the corners of her green hues. Henry's heart sank. Millie had waited for him. Unable to stop the tears, Henry kissed her cheek. "I'll see you again someday, alright? Will you wait for me, Millie?" he asked. Millie, who by now was gasping to the point where the nurses started to come in to assess her, nodded and smiled as the light began to leave her once, vibrant eyes. "Promise me one thing, you've been given a second chance... Take it and be happy, alright? Find someone to love you... For me... Promise?" said Millie. Henry couldn't believe what he was hearing. But as his wife's dying wish, Henry nodded. Kissing her hand, Henry looked up with a tearful smile. "No one could ever take your place... But yes... I promise." he said. Closing her eyes with a smile on her face, Millie took her final breath and passed away. Distraught as can be, Henry broke down and sobbed.
