"What a fine day for science..." Dexter said to himself, scampering down the school hallway. He then went to knock on the classroom door and waited patiently. He was the new student, next to Dee Dee of course, in Aron City Elementary School.
The door opened. "Oh, you must be our new friend, come in, Dexter." the teacher smiled and she allowed the boy in the classroom.
Dexter smiled as he was invited in. 'I wonder what fine individuals my new classmates have in store for me.'
"Class, this is our new friend, Dexter Tartovosky," the teacher introduced.
"Hello, Dexter!" the students called back.
"Dexter, why don't you have a seat next to Suzy?"
Dexter nodded and sat down in the desk next to the scarlet haired young girl with a green headband in her hair. "Hello, fellow student, I am a boy genius, so do not feel bad if you answer slower than I do from Ms. Winkle's lessons."
"Uh, okay," Suzy shrugged, then kept her eyes forward with a smile on her face.
"Okay, class, let's practice for the math tournament coming up in school," the teacher, Ms. Winkle said to the class. "Now, who knows the formula for pi?"
Dexter smirked. He had this in the bag. He then noticed that Suzy had her hand raised first. "Excuse me, Suzy, I'm sure I know this one, but I'll be polite and allow you to go."
"Uh, thanks, Dexter." Suzy kept her hand raised.
"Yes, Suzy?" Ms. Winkle called for her.
"3.1415926535897932384626433832795028841971693993751." Suzy answered.
"That is correct." Ms. Winkle smiled.
Dexter looked wide-eyed at Suzy's intellect. 'She is smarter than she seems... She could be a threat to my new boy genius status in this school.'
"Now, what is the square root of seven?" Ms. Winkle asked, then saw her new student had his hand raised. "Yes, Dexter?"
"2.645751311064590590." Dexter answered with a rather smug look on his face, putting his hands together on his desk top.
"I'm sorry Dexter, that is incorrect." Ms. Winkle told him.
"Huh?" Dexter's eyes widened. He had never been called incorrect before, even when it came to math or science.
"Suzy?" Ms. Winkle called for the red-headed girl.
"Trick question, Ms. Winkle," Suzy clarified. "Seven has no square root, it's a prime number."
"That is correct, Suzy." Ms. Winkle said.
Dexter felt, for the first time in his life, really stupid. He was no match for Suzy. Dexter found himself attracted to Suzy, yet his boy genius psyche was fading every time he talked to or saw little Suzy. What was he going to do?
