Tokyo, 10:51 PM
Kukai collapses on the bench and sighs. He's exhausted. Exhausted beyond belief. Thirty minutes ago still haunts him.
Her. Him.
The words.
The volume.
The door, slamming.
Him, here, waiting for the last train out.
"May I sit here?"
He looks up. An older woman smiles down at him. He nods.
The woman sits thirty centimeters away. For a while it's silence, then she says, "You know, I've seen plenty of people in your state before, and I always tell them: if it really hurts, then go back."
It only takes a moment for him to get up and run.
Ah, it's been forever since I wrote something like this. I hope I still remember how do to this kind of thing...
Anyways, this is just a quick drabble I made up a month or two ago. This is based on a similar story I heard at that time, so, yes, it is based on a true story. As for the drabble itself, I've always found the 100 word limit to be kind of difficult to maintain while keeping some sort of story moving. But I've also been writing under word limits lately, so I think I got the hang of it. The only thing I'm a little iffy about with this particular piece is the last line, but I guess it's ambiguous enough for me to not care too much about it.
Speaking of ambiguity, the girl that Kukai was fighting prior to the start of the story could be anybody. Yaya, Utau, a random OC... Heck, even Nadeshiko for all I care. It's up to you. I've recently been messing around with ambiguity and letting the reader decide some things about the story. It's kind of fun.
Anyways, thanks for reading! Feedback of any kind would be wonderful, so please do review.
