Two 221B ficlits inspired by and dedicated to the wonderful Morgan Stuart for introducing me to a new kind of writing. I must say that these were challenging but fun. I'll have to try my hand at some more of them. :D

When she first met him, John Watson had seemed the average man. Average height, average build, average face. All in all, ordinary.
The first time she laid eyes on him, Sherlock Holmes had been anything but ordinary. Singular voice, singular face, singular mind. In a word, extraordinary.
First glances can be deceiving.
John Watson may have seemed plain, but time revealed all the things that set him apart- his heart, his loyalty, his strength- what made him extraordinary.
Sherlock Holmes may have appeared alien at first, but over time his stubbornness, his pride, his weakness -what made him so very human- came to light.
With her being, well, her, Molly never expected them coming to her for aid.
The first, surprisingly, was Sherlock. When everything was crumbling around him, he had come to her to help him hide. Not Lestrade, not even steadfast John. Her, Molly Hooper.
John came not long afterward. With everything falling out from under his feet, he went to the morgue and asked her to help him join his best friend. She'd thought that no one - maybe not even Sherlock- could mend that fragmented heart. Why did she have to keep Sherlock's secret? Her, Molly Hooper...
One day Molly glimpsed John weeping beside Sherlock's grave, never noticing the dark-haired man watching him.
Both were utterly broken.
)oOo(
When he first saw Molly Hooper in St. Bart's, John hadn't given her much thought. Sherlock's brilliance had stolen the show.
When Sherlock first bumped into the flustered new girl in the morgue, he had deduced her entire life story in seconds. She was simply another person, end of story.
Both of them had been wrong.
Molly may have seemed simply a woman in the background, but over the months John discovered her sincerity, loyalty, and her caring heart. She was a star in her own right.
Most of the time Sherlock gave Molly little thought, but after years of working with her there were occasions where she still surprised him- she had far more insight than he ever gave her credit for.
Despite all that, neither expected her to be their saviour.
Molly's constancy helped John keep some order in his world when it all came crashing down with Sherlock's fall. No matter how he acted, she never left him.
Molly may have helped Sherlock disappear, but she never let him leave her memory. She was his window into John's world, and for that he was thankful.
No one ever quite knew how, but Molly kept both men from shattering completely, the glue that held them together even when it seemed impossible.
Three years later...
...finally reunited, no longer broken.
