Steve McGarrett wasn't surprised to find his partner Danny Williams at his house when he came back from his swim Thanksgiving morning. Danny had taken charge of cooking the meal this year, at Steve's house. He'd been over the night before to set the turkey to brining, and announced his intention of returning bright and early the next morning. Steve was surprised to find Danny standing on the lanai, arms crossed, tapping his foot impatiently.
"I'm going to stuff your cat and serve him for Thanksgiving," Danny said without preamble.
"Why, what'd Ninja do?"
"What did he do?" Danny's hands started waving. "He ate the turkey, that's what he did. Got up on the counter, knocked over the container, and helped himself!"
"I told you leaving it on the counter overnight was a bad idea." Steve headed into the kitchen and took in the chaos. Sure enough, the container the turkey had been in was knocked over, the turkey had been dragged onto the counter and was missing several chunks, and brine dripped onto the floor. Steve was actually rather impressed. That was quite a feat for a 10-lb cat. Steve also noticed Danny's dog, Bullet, standing by the back door, waving his tail in greeting. "Why'd you bring the dog?"
"It's Thanksgiving. I'm not leaving him home on the holidays all by himself. He deserves to celebrate, too, especially after all he's been through."
Steve continued through the house and up the stairs, Danny following. "Ninja's not going to be happy."
"Your cat can get over it."
Steve shrugged. "Suit yourself, but I'm not going to be responsible for anything that happens. You remember what happened the last time Bullet came over."
"You're changing the subject. What am I going to do about dinner? It's Thanksgiving day. I seriously doubt I can find a turkey on such short notice."
Steve grabbed his clothes and disappeared into the bathroom to change. "Maybe we can go out. I'm sure there's plenty of restaurants serving Thanksgiving dinner. It'll be fine."
"Go out? Go out?!" Danny was appalled. Steve might as well have suggested ordering pineapple pizza for Thanksgiving, which, come to think of it, was an option. There were worse things. At least they'd all be together. "You can't go out on Thanksgiving. It's against the whole nature of the holiday. The point is to gather the family together over a home-cooked meal. Heck, the cooking is half the point. Everybody pitches in, then you sit around and watch football and chat while the meal fills the house with wonderful smells."
Steve had to admit Danny had a point. Still..."We'll think of something. Right now, let's clean up the mess and throw out the turkey."
"Okay, fine." They went into the kitchen. The container was still there, and the brine was still dripping onto the floor, but the turkey was missing. "What did your cat do now?"
"My cat? I hardly think Ninja could drag off a 15 lb turkey. It's bigger than he is. I'd say your dog is the more likely suspect."
"Oh, no, Bullet wouldn't do that." Danny went back into the living room, searching for the cat and the turkey. His eye fell on the dog bed in the corner he'd brought over for Bullet. There was Bullet, happily chewing away on the turkey. Danny face-palmed himself. "I'm going to stuff them both."

A/N My cat actually got into the turkey one year while I was away at college. I got a call from my Mom which started "I'm going to stuff your cat."
