A/N: this was first going to be a songfic to "Where are you?" by Blink 182, but then I started writing, and it took on a life of its own.
Disclaimer: I don't own Blue Exorcist. Don't rub it in. Chances are, you don't own it either.
Rin looked at Yukio. "Come on," he whined. "Why can't I visit Father's grave? After all, if I don't pass that Exorcist qualification Exam next month, I'll never get the chance. Please Yukio, I need this."
Yukio sighed. "Exactly. If you don't pass that exam next month, you'll be executed. That's why you need to spend more time training. You hardly have control over your flames, and you can't fight without them. So for the last time, no."
He gave him a steady glare. "If you don't let me go, I'll stop cooking for you, have Ukobach stop cooking for you, and have Mephisto start cooking for you again."
"You wouldn't."
He smirked. "Try me."
He groaned. "Fine. But Shura's going with you, and when she says it's time to go, you go. Understood?"
Rin nodded.

Rin was standing before his father's grave. Throughout the past few months, he learned so much about his adoptive father: he was an Exorcist, he was a Paladin. He quietly whispered, "I miss you so much. Where are you? And I'm sorry. About everything. I hate myself for everything I said that night. But don't waste your time on me. You're already the voice inside my head."
It was true. When he didn't know what to do, he always thought of his father's voice, guiding him through his life. "Why did you have to take your life like that? Somehow, I think that I would be better off if you let Satan take me to Gehenna. True, I made friends at cram school. But after they saw me lose control of my flames, no one will come near me. Everyone hates me. If I don't pass the Exorcist Exam in a month, I'll be executed anyway." He continued to speak to his father's grave until Shura told him that it was time to leave, but not before she paid her own respects.

Shiro smiled down at his son. He knew about everything that happened to him since he died. He always took care to watch over him. He was always there giving him advice when he was at a dead end. But it was still good to see that he cared enough about him to visit his grave. It also touched him that Shura, the prodigal daughter in every sense of the word, came to speak as well. If there was one thing that he never expected that she would do, it was watch over Rin. After he, in her opinion she called, abandoned her, he never thought she'd have anything to do with him. He smiled again as he saw a single rose placed carefully on his tombstone.
Please review! I thought that there weren't enough family stories in this fandom and too many smut fics. You can flame, but only if you absolutely hated it.
