So this is a little dark but I thought I would try my hand at understanding Derek. A short piece that portrays Derek to me.
Derek use to smile, teeth shining exuberantly. Now he only bared his teeth in fury.
He use to laugh, a laugh filled with warmth. Now he let out humorless, bitter sneers.
He use to think the world was clean, riddled with love and sunshine, unaware of the dangers that lurked in the shadows, so young and naive. They say werewolves are monsters but he's seen what real monsters can do. Humans. They can tear apart the most beautiful things. Capable of burning down life without batting an eye.
The end result, an icy hard-edged heart that beats for one sole reason, revenge. Bright, innocent, green eyes had inevitably turned into cold, dark orbs that exuded his disgust for all.
And when he lost the only being he had left, the only thing that kept him from becoming a shell of his former self, he cracked.
But he rebuilt himself, departing with all emotions that weakened him. Gripping onto his hatred, he saw the world much differently now.
He had learned his lesson, nothing was pure, and the world was tainted, the people who inhabited it were foul. He was tainted, he would never be the same again. He was hardened by loss, hatred churning in the pit of his stomach threatening to unleash on all around him.
Unsurprisingly, he somewhat lost touch with his humanity, unable to grasp compassion because of all the pain.
Nevertheless, he understood now, what was needed to get want he craved. Strength and abhorrence, anything else was a weakness.
Yes, he understood now, to get what he wanted he would have to stay this way because his past ego would never have been capable of shredding apart flesh and hurting the innocent. Others may see him as corrupt and evil even though he does what many refuse to, he does what is required.
Oh yes, he knew better now, his eyes are open. He was tainted but he sees so much clearly.
Can't wait to read them (the reviews), because you will be leaving one. Kidding, reviews are appreciated and taken considerately.
