Author's Note: So this is a companion piece to 'Inferno'. I've thought about making a whole companion series to Ashes to Ashes from the TARDIS's pov, but I haven't decided. I guess I'll see how well everyone likes it. Anyway, not to many people give a lot of credit to the TARDIS it seems, and I thought that should be remedied. Everyone know's she alive, so how did she react to the events of the Time War? Oh, I'm pretty sure I spelled 'conscience' wrong for the context I put it in, and I apologize if I did. My spell check only gave me that version.
Disclaimer: Not mine. Unfortunately...... Lyric's are from the song 'Hello' by Evanesence. And I don't own that either.
Hello
'I'm your mind, giving you someone to talk to'
Gallifrey was gone. Gone, gone! That one word echoed hollowly through her heart, ripping her apart. Her home, the planet she had been grown on. All gone, in a blink of an eye. Even to one who saw eternity, whose conscience spread throughout all of time, the destruction of Gallifrey had been a shock. And had left a terrible emptiness within her. She's the last of her species now, the only TARDIS left in existence.
Yet another thing she shared with her Time Lord counterpart.
Turning her attention to the newly regenerated Doctor, she felt herself break again, upon finding him huddled under her damaged console, shaking and crying, his mind no longer in the here and now, but rather on the events of earlier.
She hummed soothingly to him, barely able to keep herself floating aimlessly in the vortex.
He had regenerated, but he wasn't the only one who had sustained damage. She would heal, with time and patience, but could he? Could her damaged Doctor ever find peace within himself again?
Hearing him crying out in anguish within her own walls crushed what was left of her. Gallifrey was gone, it's death cracking her open. She didn't know how they survived, but she swore she would protect her Time Lord with her very soul, no matter the cost. He was all she had left, all she had to live for. She couldn't lose him. HNever him. Not her Doctor.
Yes, she decided, she would protect him for eternity, let him hide himself within her when everything became to much. She just needed to listen, to remember. To realize that she was still here.
'All that's left of yesterday'
