AN: Okay here it is, the thankyou story that I promised for you.
As for how this story turned out to be mild Au with self babbling Oc ... I'll just say it was my dear friend Ashy's fault. She should learn not to give me weird plotbunnies!
It's been years, no centuries. So much time has passed for one simple decision that changed the course of destiny which was imposed on , hundreds of years later, she doesn't regret the decision, because rather her than someone else.
Centuries of living as the only survivor from that era, it suited her. She had made the decision herself, and she still remembered it like it was yesterday, crystal-clear.
She had been in the middle of her twenties when it happened.
It was a fruit of that she was sure even if its appearance was bizarre, and the green surface was covered with red intricacies. She had never before seen such a strange fruit, but a fruit it was, that much was sure. She rolled it in her hands thoughtfully, was it toxic, or what it tasted like?
She set the fruit on the stump and sat staring at it. What should she do with it? It could not be left here if it were toxic and someone would choose to eat it!
But then, after a long time of staring she saw something. And what he saw was a dragon, she was sure of it, but as quickly as it had appeared, it disappeared. It was gone, but she was sure of it. She had never doubted her eyes, and wouldn't doubt now. Definitelyt she had seen how the red intricacies of the fruit had formed the picture of the dragon on the fruits surface.
What she should do now?
Father had said that the omens were not always clear, like that when you step out and a nut drops on your head can be omen as well as coincidence. Just like the reflections on water.
Or the strange images on the surface of the fruit which she had found at the foot of a bush, she thought.
Should she eat that unique fruit?
Nevertheless, all of this had to mean something, besides what harm could could eating a one fruit cause?
Ah, she had eaten that fruit, and she had become a dragon. Later on, she learned that it had been a Devil Fruit. However it no longer held any meaning when she had already become a dragon that outlived everyone else.
Now it was more than eight hundred years of that sunny day. She had adapted the changes over the centuries, lived in many places before she settled on these sharp range of rocks. In the end, she had promised. The promise, it was one of the few things that she still could remember.
She was once hopeful of fulfilling that promise, but it just wasn't enough.
She remembered the name of that man, even though she had long ago forgotten hers. Perhaps she remembered the man's name because he had given her a new name; Ancient Guardian.
That is the name she remembers, just like she rebembers the name of that man. That man had become the Pirate King even though he had not been able to help her. Gol D. Roger was a man who had shown her that the centuries of waiting would be rewarded if she just would keep on waiting.
Well, she's waiting, after all she was still alive, and at the same time the main reason why no other ships had never been able to get to Raftell.
None of those she didn't see fit to continue never got past her.
She is the Ancient Guardian, a one damned firebreathing dragon.
