Prompt: (word) independence.
Durmstrang, Pirin.
Word count: 447 words.
"It's about more than independence!" Fleur almost shouted at Bill, who was standing in the kitchen awkwardly, not knowing what to do. "Dominique is dating a boy nine years older than her!"
"Yet you still call him a boy, mon cherie," Bill says calmly, putting his hands on Fleur's shoulders. "Breathe, Fleur. It's Teddy. We've known him for his whole life and we know he won't hurt Dominique. Or anyone."
Fleur shook her head, put one hand on her hip and the other on her forehead. "I know, mon amour, but I never thought Dominique would want to date someone at fifteen."
Bill snorted and threw his head back, letting Fleur see the length of the scars on his cheek, jaw and neck. "Dear, sorry to burst your bubble but at fifteen I had already dated half a dozen girls."
Against her will, Fleur laughed. "Oui, oui, but you were an easy kind of wizard, William."
"That I was," he said with pride in his voice. "And I assure you Dominique isn't. Fleur, she knows what she wants just like the witch who moved all the way from France to England in the middle of a war to be with a curse–breaker whose family was in constant danger."
Fleur looked at Bill's eyes and tried to hide her smile. She couldn't because he lifted an eyebrow, mocking.
"I wanted to improve my English," she said in a meek voice and Bill laughed, hugging her against his chest.
"And you did. I can barely tell you're French!"
They let go but their hands stayed linked. Fleur tilted her head, smiling at him.
"Mon amour, you spoke too much for me to never learn," she said, giggling and poking him in the chest. "I had to learn so you could hear me over your big ego."
"Big ego? Says the one who believed she could beat me in a duel."
Fleur's cheeks went pink and Bill thought she looked lovely. "I was a Triwizard Champion, William. It's not a big ego but a fact that I'm good at magic."
"Please," said an annoyed voice from the sofa. Bill and Fleur looked at it and saw an exasperated Dominique and a red–cheeked, down–looking, smiling Teddy Lupin. "Stop flirting and answer me already. Can I go to the muggle cinema with my boyfriend?"
Bill looked at Fleur with a smile and tender eyes.
Fleur rolled her eyes and waved her hand. "D'accord! But come back by ten, Dominique."
"Merci, Maman!" she exclaimed, grabbed Teddy's hand and ran to the fireplace.
"Thank you, Mister and Missus Weasley!" Teddy said before disappearing in the fire.
Bill and Fleur remained alone, watching the fireplace.
She looked at him. "She didn't even kiss me goodbye."
Bill laughed and hugged his wife.
