Hello there! Just a really quick one, to combat the writer's block. Molly's POV
Enjoy!
She knows better than to hope too loudly, and that you're not meant to tell anyone what you wished for. And still, she finds her resolve crumbling. She declares she will turn away and move herself along, find a distraction and bury herself – yet she finds herself being drawn back, giving in. Giving it just one last chance.
She's seen him up close, gotten near enough to see his mind ticking over a problem, and conquering it. Everytime. She knows that to him Love is a thing just waiting to be shredded and analysed, doused in mystery and intrigue. But not something he would indulge in. He exists above such trivial, mundane things as love and lust and trust and friendship. And she can't work out if that's why she loves him, or if that's why she feels that fleeting shard of hurt and anger being drawn through her when he remains oblivious.
She should hate him.
But still in some deep, dusty corner of her mind she has collected and preserved every smile. Every significant glance, every kind word and every meaningful gesture has been delicately pressed, dried and laid bare.
She visits them, on occasion. When the night is particularly dark, the world seeming uncertain and cruel, she consults each one, carefully dissecting them and examining their hearts.
Because sometimes, in the dead hours of the morning, those are the things that keep her sane. They are the things that give her faith. And courage.
And one day, if she is lucky, she may have the courage to destroy them.
Because he keeps a similar collection of smiles, she is sure. And she knows they are not hers.
It struck me when I had finished that this is quite similar to something else I wrote -'Memories,' a HP fic - but on reflection, I think it's the opposite view point of the same thing: more indulging in memories, than trying to deny them ... if that makes sense.
I saw the actress who plays Molly in the play 'A Government Inspector' a fews months back - she was excellent! Anyway, just thought that would be a nice bit of trivia for Sherlock fans :P I don't know if the play is still running, but it is definitely worth going if you get the chance.
As always, reviews would be appreciated so much - and if you spot any mistakes, please do point them out. Thanks for reading!
