Please Do Not Lose Hope
The sun shined a magical golden light as it lowered beneath the immense but calm waves on the ocean. Around the sun, the sky was painted a gorgeous purple with a warm red towards the bottom of the horizon. Sonny walked along the warm sand of the beach, her bare feet feeling the gentle embrace of the grains. The white sun dress she wore blew gently in the cool wind, as did her long, raven-colored hair. Looking down at her lightly sun-kissed arms, Sonny saw the red scars from the cuts she'd made on herself to provide comfort on the longest, darkest nights.
The teenager tried to cover the marks, but the futile attempts at happiness still burned in her tired mind. Her body was thin and weak from all the nights she starved herself, trying to see herself as beautiful once again. Soon, the wind grew stronger, chilling the girl.
Deeply desiring to hide her scars, Sonny tightly grabbed her arms, tears beginning to well up in her beautiful, warm, brown eyes. Suddenly, she felt another hand on her arm, and gently turned her head, her mouth open in weakened shock: It was Chad.
The boy's blond hair blew in the wind, and his face was so comforting. Pulling Sonny closer, the teenager gently wrapped his arms around her, hoping to let her share his love. If only she could see herself as he did: Beautiful, pure, innocent, a blessing from Heaven above. No matter what she looked like, no matter how her body looked.
Above the two, the clouds were dyed a breath-taking gold, wrapping the two in a blanket of hope and peace that they had not felt for so long. Tawni, Nico, Grady, and Zora approached the two, determined to help Sonny. Wrapping their arms around her and Chad, the friends felt a warmth growing in their hearts, and a oneness that they never wanted to lose. The black-haired girl opened her eyes, letting tears fall from them.
Perhaps the Lord brought these friends together. "Thank You," Sonny silently prayed, looking up to the sky, feeling God's love and grace shine down on her, giving her solace she had so longed for. "I'm ready to get help," the girl told her friends, her voice serious, but filled with deep joy. "I'm ready to get better."
The group felt relief in their souls, and smiles formed on their faces. The wind blew on them, and the horizon shined on, just like a dream.
