Abby rushed into work late. Jack was brilliant at slowing her down with his moaning. She slowed to a walk trying to not draw attention to herself as she went to attend to the menagerie.

Abby looked through the enclosure walls at the creatures, placing her hands on the glass. She froze – realising that Cutter, Jenny and Lester were watching her. She knew there was no point avoiding the inevitable lecture and turned to face them head on. Lester hadn't moved from his office but Jenny reached out. Abby flinched, expecting the words to come out any second but instead the PR lady placed a hand on Abby's shoulder reassuringly.

"We miss him too you know, it's okay to cry." she said in a comforting tone.

"Miss who?" Abby asked, but she had a strange feeling that she already knew what Jenny was talking about.

Jenny and Cutter exchanged glances.

"Connor." Jenny replied, her eyes brimming with concern.

Abby?

"Connor's at a mate's house." Abby said, but even to her ears the words sounded unconvincing.

"Abby don't you get it? Connor's dead!" Cutter spat bitterly. "You've been in denial for a couple of months now!"

"What are you talking about? Connor's perfectly fine! I was talking to him yesterday." Abby protested.

Cutter turned to Jenny.

"I told you it wouldn't work! When she wants to come to terms with it she will." he hissed.

"She sounds unsure, at least tell her how he di – you know."

Abby!

"I'm still here you know."

The pair turned once again to face Abby.

"Do you remember the fire at the ARC that Helen caused?"

"Of course I do." Abby answered suspiciously.

"When I didn't emerge Connor went back in for me. He found me alright, just before Helen's bullet did. Her gun was aiming for me but he got shot instead. Do you know what his last words were?"

"Okay that's enough to jog her memory Nick."

Cutter ignored Jenny and continued.

ABBY!

"Tell Abby I love her."

It all came back to her in one painful flashback: Cutter leaving the wreckage of the ARC holding Connor's lifeless body. She'd cried SO hard…Nothing was the same anymore.

The world seemed to spin. Abby collapsed with a short cry. Jenny bent down so she was staring the blonde directly in the eyes.

"Abby?" she said, with Connor's voice.

Abby opened her eyes. She was in a – flat. A bedroom. The walls around her were the white property of Jess' as was the bed she currently lay on the floor next to.

"Are you okay? I'm sorry I didn't mean to push you that hard but you wouldn't wake up."

As Abby heard Connor's voice she smiled. Everything was going to be okay.
