I don't own Bleach, that's Kubo Tite's masterpiece, I'm just a fan. Honestly, I wrote this just for the fun of it in my freetime, it's probably completely a mary-sue, but maybe if you don't know me it isn't so bad, haha

The only reason I rated it T is because of language and hits of sexual situations, but I never go into detail about those.

Thank you so much for reading I know it's long, but like I said... I do this in my freetime, mostly on weekends.

Not only did she have no idea what time it was, but she also hadn't realized that there was an empty desk in a classroom meeting in a university twenty minutes away that she needed to be present in. Kiara was far too busy paying attention to the news on television. Random disappearances had been occurring all over town. Not only that, but huge amounts of damage had occurred to local buildings and nobody knew what the source was. All the witnesses could only say that they either simply didn't see anything, like a giant invisible creature had just punched a hole into a concrete building, or that they were just driving when all of a sudden the car in front of them was smashed like it was stepped on. These events brought up a strange feeling of terror inside of Kiara Benedict. She didn't want to leave the house, not even for her final. She heard her cell phone ring, so she reached into her pocket and looked at the caller ID. It was her childhood friend, Rylan. They grew up together and tried going out for a time in high school, but they found it to be more awkward than romantic. They decided to go to the same college and get a two-bedroom apartment slightly further away from the college since it would be cheaper. She didn't know where he was since he had left before she had woke up. He was in that same class with her; apparently there were two empty desks.

"Hey, Kiara, I guess you didn't go to class today either?"

"No, I totally forgot about it, I'm sitting here watching the news. Where are you at?

"I decided to go out and buy groceries. You know you shouldn't be watching that stuff. It's all some prank someone's playing."

"Could you get some cream cheese? We don't have enough for the rest of the bagels. How can you prove that it's just a prank?"

"Well… umm… I guess I can't really prove it, but there isn't any other explanation for it. I mean, there can't be some huge monster that we can't see running around the city like a playground…unless, of course, it's one of those 'end-of-the-world' sorta things."

"I don't know, I really don't feel safe going out either way."

"We should go eat somewhere."

"But you're buying groceries… why would we go eat somewhere?"

"Because I want you to get out, but I'm almost at the checkout, so I'll talk to you when I get there."

"Okay, drive safely."

"Don't worry, I'll try not to get stepped on."

They both chuckled and hung up. Kiara decided to change the channel back to 'Scrubs'. A little while later the door opened.

"Hey, can you lock it? My hands are full." Rylan walked in, arms full of bags and both hands carrying a 24 pack of soda each.

"Is that everything?"

"Yeah, I didn't get much."

"Two 24 packs is 'not much'?" She gave him a sarcastic look.

"Well, since you refuse to leave I assume we should be prepared for the end of the world."

"Oh, ha-ha-ha." She locked the door to the apartment and went over to the kitchen area to help put the groceries away.

"Okay, so where do you want to eat?" asked Rylan.

"I'm not going out. I didn't go to the final; I'm certainly not going to go out to eat."

"Oh, come on."

"Why is it that when people say, 'Oh, come on,' they think it will work?"

"I dunno. Does it?" Kiara realized that Rylan really did want to go out to eat.

"I suppose."

"Yes!" Rylan threw a fist into the air in triumph.

"But we're just going out for coffee!"

"Works for me!"

Kiara grabbed a brown winter coat she had bought recently since her old one had worn out after five years of being used and then tossed around during the warmer seasons. Underneath it she wore a long-sleeved white shirt with a green t-shirt over it with a Mountain Dew logo that said, "I did the Dew, and it was great" in yellow text underneath it. Her blue jeans were a bit long on her and flared out at the bottom, which was just how she liked it. They weren't quite bellbottoms, but they were as close as she was daring to go. Typical black street shoes (it hadn't been snowing yet) and a green and white stripped scarf to match her shirts. She also wore green thick-framed glasses. Needless to say, she liked the color green. People said it matched her complexion, which was rather pale (she didn't like tanning… she thought it was stupid and a waste of time), and her brown hair (which was cut to a length just below her ears).

Since we're talking about looks, Rylan looked almost similar to Kiara. They were often fooled as being siblings. He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt with their school's initials on it and black denim pants. His hair was brown, shorter than Kiara's, but still long. He simply parted it on the left side of his face after he got out of the shower in the morning and went on his way. Kiara often made jokes regarding her jealousy towards how easy it was for him to get ready because when she styled her hair (back in the days were she actually went on dates and left the apartment) she would use a lot of products to spike her hair in a certain way to make it look somewhat like a style a Japanese rock band would wear (which is what she wanted). The difference that really set them apart is that Rylan had blue eyes and hers were brown. That doesn't have anything to do with the story, however.

They started walking towards a café just a couple blocks down the street. When they were looking for a place to live, it was one of those 'golden nuggets' they found that tipped the scale enough for them to choose that particular apartment complex. It was a nice complex with four different buildings. Each building had studio/efficiency, one bedroom, two bedroom, or three bedroom apartments. Each apartment had a balcony and third floor apartments had a fireplace. They decided on a two-bedroom apartment on the third floor of one of the buildings. That way they each got their own room. The fireplace was just because they enjoyed the occasional s'more. Yes, it was that important.

They both had their own jobs, in fact, Kiara actually worked at the café they were on their way to. Rylan had a job with Media Distribution on campus. The rent was around 600 dollars, and normally that would be divided into half, which it was, but both their parents were helping them out by paying for half of whatever they had to pay. So, all around everyone was paying 150 dollars a month.

They arrived at the café and after Kiara received her greetings and people jokingly asking her to put on an apron and cover their shift, her and Rylan sat down at a table, each with their own cup of coffee.

Kiara always got the same thing, no matter how cold it was outside (and today it was a whooping 15 degrees outside with a cold breeze), she always ordered a caramel frappuccino, the only thing varying is the size. Rylan on the other hand tried to order something different every time, this time he ordered a white chocolate strawberry-flavored coffee mix. He seemed to be enjoying it as far as Kiara could tell.

"So, is there any other reason you wanted me to get out of the house?"

"Besides for sake of? Not really. I mean, I just like spending time with you too. Don't get me wrong, as a friend of course."

"And you can't do that back at the apartment?"

"Look, if you keep on questioning my motives than this will be more of an annoyance than a good time! I'd appreciate it if you could just enjoy yourself without being so careful! Life doesn't happen in that apartment; in that apartment you can only survive as long as the food. To survive to your greatest potential, to truly live, you have to step outside and see the world as it was meant to be seen."

"What are you talking about? You're sounding crazy."

"We don't see the sunset or sunrise from the position our apartment is in. Every dawn and dusk there is a beautiful painting in the sky. God creates this painting simply for us to enjoy. He created this world for us to enjoy it and to live in it. If we stay inside then we are missing out on everything He has called us to do."

"Now hold it right there!" Kiara slammed her drink onto the table, "Are you accusing me of not living the way I should be?"

"Well…." He held his drink in both hands and looked down at it.

"How dare you judge the way I'm living. I can't believe you!" Kiara stood up from her chair, grabbed her drink, and walked a few feet from the table. She turned around to face Rylan, who was still looking down at his drink, "You know, I don't appreciate you thrusting your religious beliefs on me. Did you ever think about me? Just because my staying at home is an inconvenience to you, it doesn't give you the right to tell me what I should be doing." She walked out of the café, wrapped her scarf around her neck, and continued walking towards a local park. Even though it was freezing outside, she didn't want to go straight back to the apartment. She knew that would be where Rylan would head and she wanted to think through some things before she saw him again.

She kept walking, looking up from the ground only occasionally. She didn't want to make eye contact with anybody for fear they make take notice of her. Not in a 'if I can't see you, you can't see me' kind of thing, but more of just complete impartiality. It was about five in the afternoon, so there were a lot of people in the park, most of them just businessmen walking home from work and joggers wanting to loose some pounds before they fattened up during Christmas, which wasn't for about another two weeks.

Kiara sat down on a bench away from the busy part of the park. She leaned forward with her elbows on her knees, wiped her bangs out of her eyes, and wondered how long she was going to sit there. She wasn't going to come to any realization, she wasn't going to run into anyone that would give her words of wisdom, and Rylan wasn't going to come looking for her. She just wanted to be away, and now that she was away, she just wanted to get back to the apartment and apologize for acting out of line when Rylan was only trying to help.

She hated him, but only for a few moments. She looked around. The sun had started going down. She'd been there longer than she thought. Turning towards the west, she took notice of the sunset.

"Like a painting…" she drifted off in the mixers of purples, pinks, reds, blues, and oranges that filled the sky, and the darkened silhouettes of clouds that were given a brightened lining around them. She wanted to take a picture and remember it forever, like she would never see one again. Some strange feeling inside told her that she might never.

Standing up, she heard someone scream, "Hey!" There was someone running at her. A man wearing a long, green, trench coat, white shirt, and black pants who's shoulder-length blond hair look like it was light as a feather, but had been underneath the black bucket-hat he was waving in the air for far too long.

"Hey, Kaida!" the man finally reached her, bent down with his hands on his knees panting, "I huff though that huff I would never find you," he stood up and looked at her, "Nice scarf, love the colors." he laughed.

"I'm…a… sorry sir, but I believe you have the wrong person. You see, my name is Kiara."

"Oh, well, maybe here it is, but everyone I know calls you Kaida!" He seemed completely overjoyed to see her. With her being 22 years old, she believed him to be maybe 25, but completely immature, and at this rate, a bit of a lunatic.

"I don't know anyone who has ever called me that."

"Oh, that's because you don't remember them. You're name changes depending on what dimension you're in. It's okay, we'll figure out how to fix that soon. However, for now we just need to get you outta here."

"I don't think I'll be going anywhere with you, thank you very much." She started to walk away, but he grabbed her arm and yanked her back.

"There is no way I'm losing you again." He looked sincere to her, but the guy was creeping her out generally, so she tried to break free of his grip.

"No, let me go!" Suddenly, one of the trees on the busy part of the park was smashed down. Several others were soon to follow.

"Oh, he didn't like that." The man looked over at the trees.

"He? Who's he?" Kiara was more interested at this point in the fact that this man seemed to know something about the invisible forces more than she cared about him holding her back from freedom. By this point, he was hugging her closer to him with his left arm while his right one was held out, palm up.

"You have to want to go with me." The man looked down at Kiara.

"What is your name?"

"Kisuke Urahara, at your service." There were what seemed to be impressions in the ground, footprints, and they were heading towards them. Kiara screamed, and in the midst of her screaming yelled, "Okay". Kisuke took his right hand, flipped the palm-side down, then made a diagonal slicing motion that tore a beam of light in what seemed to be mid-air. Grabbing onto his jacket, which Kiara decided she wanted (well, it was green), they ran into the beam right as the footprints had reached them.
