Hi, it's The Clandestine Gerbil here! This is my first story but please, please, please don't be afraid to give constructive criticism.

It was a dreary and wet day in New York. But in the court of the Seelie Queen, that was another matter altogether. Clary and Jace were creeping along one of the corridors in Her Majesty's grand palace. In the start, this scheme had seemed like good fun but as time wore on, Clary's thoughts took another turn.

"Um Jace, I really don't think that this is a good idea." Clary worriedly murmured. "I know you said it's for training but why a Faerie Court of all things?" The fact that she had been here before and that she knew that the Seelie Queen had been in cahoots with her brother, Jonathan. Or should she call him Sebastian? Both the Queen and the Clave would be furious - different kinds of furious; the former would be murderously furious and the latter would be just kind of "I'll strip your runes and you can live the rest of your lives as mundanes" furious - if they found out and in that case, neither appealed to her.

"Relax, Clary. This will probably go off without a hitch!" Jace whispered back. He seemed pleased with his plan, Clary thought. All his previous ones went off pretty well. The worst injuries they had suffered were some near-fatal poisoned cuts. Magnus had fixed them up nicely.

"And by without a hitch, you mean the possibility of getting trapped in the Seelie Court forever, right?" As a reply, Jace just nodded, mouthed the words There's no comfort without fear, and smirked. By this time, they were nearing the end of the hall where the tunnel forked. One was filled with thorns and the other practically had a botanical garden of plants growing. Jace's gleeful smile grew.

"This brings back memories, doesn't it? A nice stroll to Hell after killing a member of the Seelie Cout and holding a sword to their queen. Shame the road to Edom disappeared."

"Please don't talk about my brother. I don't want to remember the things he did. Besides, he destroyed the path to Edom." Jace frowned at Clary's statement.

"He might have been your biological brother, but he's not part of your family. And I remember him destroying the path. I was there." Clary just sighed and stared pointedly at Jace.

"What? I know I'm hot, but this really isn't the time to admire my beauty." Again, she sighed. But this time she actually voiced her thoughts.

"I know that you know you're hot, but which way are we going?" Jace smiled and pointed ahead.

"You're kidding, Jace? I am not going to Faerieland. When I agreed to come, I thought that we were only going to sneak around here. Not like, actually enter their home."

"We crossed the Rubicon when we entered the court. No turning back now, Clary." The response showed that Jace was adamant in his decision. This left Clary no choice but to follow him into the foliage.

Chapter 1 is in the bag! I am sooooo excited! Remember to R&R, please.
