AN: I actually believe Nora when she says they aren't together-together. Maybe I'll change my mind someday, but I don't see them as a couple right now. (Honestly, that's how I feel about White Rose and Bumbleby, too. Ladybug 5evur.) Anyway.

Nora loved Ren, she really did, but she'd never loved him that way, even though sometimes she wished she did. It really would make everything easier, but she knew that convenience was be a bad reason to start a relationship, tempting as it could be.

The problem was, nobody believed her. For the past decade, even their own families had been insisting that they were obviously deeply in love. It was only a matter of time until they admitted it, they claimed.

"You know they're probably planning our wedding, right?" she asked him one night.

"Our mothers are probably fighting over colors as we speak," he agreed.

It was an ordinary night in the JNPR dorm. Jaune and Pyrrha were off doing...whatever it was they snuck off to do each night. Meanwhile, the two of them stretched out on the floor, staring at their homework but not making any real progress.

"It's going to be so awkward when you end up marrying someone else," she added.

"Please. You'll be married before I am."

"No way, I'm never getting married!" she said emphatically.

"Yeah, yeah, that's what they all say," he murmured.

"Sexist."

"Oh, I am not! You're seventeen, Nora. How many seventeen year olds claim they'll never get married?"

"Fine, then. Ageist."

Ren sighed. Of course, this irritated Nora even more.

So she threw her notebook at him.

"Hey!" he yelled, rubbing his arm.

"Sorry," she said sheepishly.

He sighed again. "It's fine. Should we actually work on the essay for Oobleck?"

"But it's not due for a whole twelve hours."

"Nora…"

"Yeah, yeah, eleven and a half. Same thing."

"Nora. You know that's not what I meant."

"Whatever. That's what Port's class is for."

"Essay. Now." he said sternly.

"Fine, Dad."

Two hours later, when Jaune and Pyrrha came back, they were still on the floor, and still hadn't made much progress.

"That essay is due tomorrow!" Pyrrha exclaimed. "And you two only have one paragraph each!"

"It's due tomorrow?!" Jaune cried.

"Jaune!" Pyrrha admonished, before launching into (another) lecture on responsibility.

Ren and Nora giggled.

"I don't know why you two are laughing, you're not much better than him!" she scolded.

Ren yawned. "That's what Port's class is for. I'm tired."

Nora smirked. "Me too. Sorry, Pyrrha."

Pyrrha sighed.
