Okay, so this was actually just a bunch of writing exercises I wrote to understand each character more before I started writing actual stories but I wrote quite a few so why not post it? I hope you guys like this if anyone's even reading it. (:

I clearly don't own Percy Jackson or any of his friends….sigh.

Annabeth

You look down at the open book in your hands, taking note of the musty smell and the yellowing pages, before looking up once more. You stare out the open window of your cabin with an unreadable expression on your face. You can see the other campers outside playing around and laughing at something you can't hear. You look down again but the laughter from outside mocks you, taunts you.

And you want to go and laugh with them.

But…you don't. You can't. You won't.

The heavy book that you're holding is the only company you have at the moment but it feels like you're completely alone for a second, completely alienated from the world.

And for a moment you want to just drop the book and go be a normal girl, not just one that thirsts for knowledge. You suddenly want to brush your hair and fix your shorts and scrape off a mark of dirt on your shoe. You want to go and spend time with people, with Percy, but not be the one everyone looks to for answers. No, you want to be the one who looks at someone else for answers. And most of all you want Percy to look at you like you're a girl and more than the brain in the group, you want him to like you like you like him.

But then you think.

And you realize that's not you.

You're not that girl. You're the girl who does thirst for knowledge. The girl who frankly doesn't care what her hair looks like or her clothes. The girl who everyone looks to for answers. The girl whose fatal flaw is her pride. The girl who likes a boy that most likely doesn't reciprocate the feelings.

And then you're moment is gone, your moment of weak envy dismissed. You don't want to be someone you're not and you're perfectly fine with how you are.

You begin to read the small lines of ancient Greek writing, your eyes scanning across the page rapidly as if they couldn't get enough. Which they couldn't.

You don't have to be that girl to be accepted, you realize. Because you already have been accepted for who you are which is just Annabeth. Nothing more and nothing less.

Every girl has their moment right?

Please review and tell me what you think (:
