It was one of those cold winter days that almost no one wanted to be caught outside in. The sky was a bland grayish color, littered with thin clouds that were depositing their unwanted gems. The small, crystalline flakes danced in a playfully wild yet graceful way to the ground, landing with their fallen brethren to be reunited with each other once again. Most of them landed on the welcoming earth but a few took residence on a teenage boy, one who was crazy enough to confront the cold winter day. His gray eyes were slightly glazed as he stared unfocusedly at the sky, watching the snow's performance. There was a layer of snow building up on his folded legs, his shoulders, and his hair that rivaled the frozen particles in their pure whiteness and seemingly wild nature. Underneath the pure white atop his head was pitch black, like the deepest shadow created by the brightest light. His jacket stood open, revealing his tight, black clothing and the many necklaces hugging his slender neck. Most people would have been cold with the lack of warmth his clothes provided, but the boy was happy. A small smile had made it's way to his lips as he just sat there and watched the snowflakes put on their dazzling performance.
"Haru?" came a soft voice from behind the young man. The one addressed turned his head to look at the one who had called his name. "What are you doing out here? It's freezing," said the teen that had braved the freezing weather to find the one who was sitting in the rapidly falling snow. The boy who had broken the silence was skinny and had very soft, feminine features. He had a heavy coat wrapped around his small frame, covering from his slender neck to his knees, trying desperately to block out the wind that was blowing his dark gray hair around his head. The slightly loose gray pants he was wearing were tucked into his thick snow-boots. His deep violet eyes were focused on the form of the taller teen sitting in front of him, waiting patiently for an answer.
The one questioned shrugged in a casual manner, disrupting the snow that had gathered on his shoulders. "I like the winter Yuki. And it's not that cold once you get used to it," he replied in a monotone voice. Yuki rolled his eyes at the response he was given; it was so plan and simple, it fit Haru perfectly. The two remained there in silence for a moment, one sitting, the other standing.
"It's… strange," Yuki started to say. Haru turned his head slightly to give him a questioning gaze, so the shorter teen continued to voice his thoughts. "Your name, Haru, means 'spring', but you seem to like winter the most. Why's that?"
Haru sat there for quietly for a while, looking at Yuki with his dark gray eyes, which were now considerably more focused. "Well…" he paused and smiled up at the older teen that was standing next to him. Haru stood in a drawn-out manner and moved slowly to stand next to the other teen. "Yuki means 'snow', and I've always loved snow. That's why." Haru, whose cheeks were a pale pink, leaned in and gave Yuki a gentle kiss on his cheek, which was a deep red color that contrasted his normally pale skin. The two stood in a slightly awkward silence for a few minutes, which felt much longer to the teens, before the shorter boy smiled softly at the one who had just kissed him.
"Haru, lets go in now," said Yuki, grabbing the other's hand, leading the taller teen to the warmth of the house.
