Disclaimer: I do not own LOTR or Haldir. I do, however, own my newly acquired fetish for him. (I'm a sucker for elf-boys, doncha know.) This poem is in like to my Legolas poem, hopefully it's as good.

A Price: The Death of Haldir
Fearless warrior.
'Tis obvious by the way you hold yourself:
Pride radiates from your being,
Head held up high,
No trace of regret.
For who could regret a lifetime of glorious deeds?
Now you stand
Backed by comrades alike,
Prepared to sell your life
Willingly. 'Tis wisdom
Not common to all,
But you know the true meaning of honor.
It consists not merely of bravery or courage.
And when death swiftly pounces
From the shadows and flames of dark and terrible things,
You hold yourself as you always did:
Ready eye and conscious mind.
Pain is but a part of the passing:
Price paid, reward reaped.
Now you lay:
Solemn, but a small smile forms on your face.
Fearless warrior,
This peace is now within your grasp.
