Missing

Yuffie looked out at the storm clouds and raging seas through the large bay window she sat at. She knew when she wasn't wanted. His love had left her grasp long ago. He no longer felt the feelings he had for her when he had married her.

"Reno..." She whispered in to nothingness. That was what he felt for her, nothing. His voice became more hollow by each passing day. He stopped telling her that he loved her more then anything in the world. She was discarded like trash. Was that what he though she was? Just trash?

Yuffie stood from her seat at the window. She looked at her bags of belongings at the door. She sighed to herself as she picked up a pen and scribbled a letter to him:

Reno,

Please, Please forgive me but, I won't be home again. Maybe someday you'll have woke up and barely conscious you'll say to no one, "Isn't something missing?"

Yuffie could barely concentrate on the words she was writing. Tears welled up in her eyes. She could hardly see the paper she scribbled carefully on to. The words she had wanted to say for so long. The feelings she had felt about him. All the things she was unable to express she was trying to now and found herself unable to. Yuffie took a deep breath and wiped her eyes with her free hand before she continued.

You won't cry for my absence. I know you forgot me long ago. Am I that unimportant? Am I so insignificant? Isn't something missing? Isn't someone missing me? Even though I'm the sacrifice, you wont try for me... not now. Though I'd die to know you love me, I'm all alone.

She was so close to the end. The very time she had dreaded all her life. The moment she really had to say good bye. Where had it all went wrong? What did she do to make him leave her like that? Was it her needs? Was it her sadness? Maybe she really wasn't the one. Maybe it was some blond bimbo at the local tavern giving him quickies in a bathroom stall. The bed he slept in, no... she hadn't shared it with him in months.

She could hear him as he stumbled in to the house late at night, a female voice giggling loudly as they passed through the house. The throaty moans coming from his bed room and a shrill voice yelling his name. Yuffie would choke back tears as she lay silent on the couch. She had moved out to the living room since she could feel that he was no longer wanted. He would drag her out of the room, sometimes by her hair if he had to. He'd tell the other woman that his sister was scared of the dark and disappear in to the room with the next fling.

She had to finish this letter. Even if it killed her. She took the pen to the paper once more and started writing again:

I know what you do to yourself... And if I bleed... I'll bleed knowing that you don't care. And if I sleep just to dream of you and wake without you there... Isn't something missing?

Yuffie.

Her note finished, she tacked it to the wall. She knew he would see it when he walked in. She knew he would read it and whether he cared or not she had written to him. She would be long gone if he felt guilty and wanted to find her. She would disappear from existence for real this time. She could only smile at the thought of him actually feeling bad.

She had picked up her belongings. Her hand already at the door knob. She was leaving it all behind. Saying good bye to the once perfect life she knew. Taking one look back at the home she had lived in for years, she whispered in to the darkness...

"Isn't someone missing me?"

And in to the darkness she escaped.
