His grey hair swayed in the wind as he pulled his sword from the back of
Barret's corpse. Sephiroth sheathed his sword and strolled back to the inn.
He had been hunting the creatures that had banished him to the spirit
world, for 26 years he had been trapped in an endless void, gathering the
energy to recreate his form and return to the flesh. Sephiroth opened the
door to his room and sat next to the embers of the fire. He had received a
tip from an anonymous source of baretts location, south of myjar. Over his
2 months back in the world of the living he had hunted down each of the
group that had destroyed him, only the now aged cloud was left. Though he
preferred using his Masamune, Sephiroth had gained incredible arcane power
and could easily do almost anything.
For the 4 months he had known of Sephiroth's return from the void he had lived in a small cave high in the great glacier. On the walls hung his impressive collection of weapons, ranging from gloves to guns, all ready to take and use when the day came. Some days he trained for hours against creatures of the mountains, other days he would work on turning his cave into more of a castle, every day he lived in absolute fear of that day, not once did he believe that he could beat the grey haired man. a bright orange materia hung at the entrance to the cave warding him from magic. Cloud pulled a blanket over his body as he stared into the endless mountains of the north.
Carefully cloud attached a small version of the ward materia to his blue blade. Cloud strolled out into the mist, looking for a wolf or rabbit, although they were not much cloud feared moving to far away from his home to hunt larger beasts. Occasionally a malboro would come searching for easy game. Cloud lived on a large circular plateau that was ideal for hunting, enough cover to conceal a hunter and he didn't need to risk climbing the unmerciful northern mountains. Cloud's eyes surveyed the landscape and saw a few wolves attacking a malboro, "jackpot" cloud whispered. Silently Cloud moved up to the wolves and from behind a boulder watched the fight. Out of a pocket he grabbed a small materia and lodged it in his blade. With a quiet word great balls of flame leaped onto the fatigued wolves, they ran away yelping. Jumping out with sword raised Cloud engaged the malboro. With lightning speed Cloud, one by one cut its tentacles from its body until it could not fight and his blade struck home deep in the green monster's throat.
