"Thank you very much for coming." the words came automatically at this stage as Hermione said goodbye to the last of her parents friends as they left the house. She felt numb. The uncertainty was slowly, but surely, killing her. People hadn't been sure what to bring so the small hallway was filled with flowers of various colours and varieties, all beautiful but she couldn't even smell them. Crying had left her with a blocked nose and she glared at the blooming roses which dared to flourish at this moment of ambiguity.
Arms circling her made her smile sadly and lean back into the embrace.
"You okay?" a voice whispered in her ear.
Absolute silence was the only answer for a while as the arms tightened around her and she leaned back into the hug. His arms never left her as he moved around to face her and leaned forward.
"I know." he whispered before gently placing a kiss upon her lips. "I know."
Ron held her for an eternity as she watched the roses through tear filled eyes.
