Summary: Princess Eleanor, as observed among the funeral procession. Spoilers for ep 6. Drabble.

Mourning becomes her: shallowness

Princess Eleanor is relegated to the edge of the Royal party. Most eyes and cameras are on the new King, but the faithful, her well-wishers, they notice.

Of course they thought of her when they heard the news, not the new King, not widowed Queen Charlotte, but their rose, elegant, long-stemmed. They remember how she'd let go of her father's arm to come and greet her people smilingly, her handshake firm. Won't be any handshakes today, they think. She's pale, but to them she'll always be radiant. Perfect. They love her.

The mourners walk on, going to bury their dead.

Fin.
