Prologue

They were sitting on the concrete floor. It was that time in between the end of school and the beginning of practice that most people used to try to forget all the things they had to do. Or they used that time to eat. That was fine too. But today they decided to just play ukulele in the shade. They weren't all that hungry anyways. They were leaning against the wall and he was strumming and she was singing a sweet lullaby. He looked over to her as he played and saw a tear falling down her cheek. He stopped strumming and she turned her head in confusion. "Oh." She wiped her tear and laughed. It was so typical of her to laugh to hide away her pain. "It's just one of those days when you feel sad for no reason you know?" she said with a sad little smile. "I think I know why." he replied. She raised her eyebrows as a question. "Because of everything." he said. It was so stupid how he knew nothing about her and yet he understood. Instead of answering, she took the ukulele from his hands and started strumming as if it would erase all her problems. Except it wouldn't and it was just another one of those days for her.
