Kagamine Len looked up from the banquet before him and instead looked at the girl serving him, thinking that she should be a lady instead of a servant.

"Rin-chan?"

"Yes, Len-chan?" Rin spoke with a soothing tone. "Has your turkey gone cold, would you like me to get you another?"

"No, I-I need to tell you something, but I can't think of an excuse to get away from this stupid dinner!" Len whispered franticly. His mother peered at him with a disapproving frown, and muttered something under her breath. As a lady, Len thought, you would think she would be able to contain her disapproval of my over-friendliness with Rin-chan a bit more then that muttering.

"Oh, if you really need to right now just politely say you need to go to the bathroom." Rin tried to keep a straight face for Len-chan's sake. He stood up abruptly, upset his plate, said something about the bathroom and dashed off. There was no stopping Rin's giggles this time, a short burst came, like the air escaping from a balloon, but was cut off by another glare from Len-chan's mother. She excused herself quietly and slowly made her way to the bathroom.

Len waited inside the bathroom with a red face, ahead now laid another lecture about etiquette and that was not to be looked forward to. In came Rin-chan looking as sweet and poised as ever.

"So, what's the matter?" That concerned expression on her face said everything, she was his confidant.

"My parents are to marry me off to some business partner's daughter; I have been denied my choice to marry for love."

"Oh, Len-chan, that's horrible! Does this mean I won't see you again?" That is beside the point, my dear, thought Len, don't you understand? You never quite grasp the full meaning…

Before Rin could say anything else, Len jumped forward pinning her against the wall and kissed her. As they let go Rin tightened her grip and said,

"We're never going to be apart, even if it means leaving everything we know." Len and Rin would always be together.
