"Jean baby, have you seen my ipod?" James called through her house, where he seemed to spend most of his time anyway.
"No." She said trying to mask her guilt, she'd tried to download something special onto his ipod for Valentine's day but being the massive technophobe she was, she'd managed to screw it up to such extremes that the ipod in question wouldn't so much as turn on.
"It was on top of the Radio Times the other day, are you sure you've not seen it baby?" He asked now standing in front of her looking at her as if he knew exactly what she'd done.
"Fine, I'm so sorry James, I didn't mean to, I broke it."
"What?! What did you do?!" James shouted, Jean knew that music meant almost as much to him as she did.
"I was trying to do something special on it for Valentine's day and I don't know what happened."
"Honestly! You're terrified of modern technology yet you thought that was a good idea!"
"At least I tried! It's karma I suppose James, you accidently broke my little china pot which meant most to me!" Jean shouted back, suddenly feeling irrationally angry at him for not just accepting she was trying to do something nice for him.
"Thunder." James replied bringing the argument to a close, the word was brought out during one too many stupid arguments and was not used to end arguments.
"I really am sorry James honey."
"I know you are and I know you were tying to do something special for me and it was an accident so forget about it. Now there's only a few hours left of Valentine's day so lets enjoy it."
"I've got that expensive brandy you like downstairs, so we can drink that."
"Okay but first sit down on the bed and close your eyes." James told her, waiting until she did as she was told before leaving the room.
Having left the room and returned with her Valentine's present, he placed a small white box wrapped with a red ribbon in her hand and told her she could open her eyes. Unwrapping the box carefully she laid her eyes on the most perfect locket she'd ever seen.
"Oh James, it's gorgeous! Thank you!"
"Open it." Inside the locker she found a picture of her and James at a garden party with James' arm around her, both oblivious to the fact that their picture was being taken as they were both laughing. "This way I'll always be with you."
"God you are soppy James, I love you." She said as she leaned in and kissed him. "Don't think I've forgotten about your gift, here you are."
Inside the box that Jean had given James was a brand new ipod with a message from Jean engraved on the back.
"Baby it's great but you honestly didn't need to."
"Turn it on!" To his disbelief he found everything that had been on his old ipod plus a special playlist from Jean.
"But how?" James asked shocked.
"Chris helped, I didn't fancy breaking another so I asked him for help. Now that we've done the gift bit what do you say to drinking that brandy and enjoying what's left of the day?"
"That's a plan I could get behind."
