Short, cute one-shot that popped in my head. Disney owns Ben, Abigail, Riley, and Ben's dad. Other characters are from history, and myself.I hope you enjoy the story!

The Rebels

Two small lights shone out into the night from the high window. The signal had been sent.

The Commander nodded, acknowledging the signal. He slowly turned to his two compatriots. "They're coming," he announced. "There are two lights in the window. You know what that means."

"By sea," one of the compatriots announced.

"Yes Paul, that is correct." The Commander smiled. "The two of you must ride off and warn the others. Another should meet you in Lexington. Let's give those Redcoats a run for their money."

The two stood at attention, saluting the higher-ranking officer. Then, mounting their horses, they took off into the night.

After a ways, they stopped. "Which way are you going Paul?" asked the other.

Paul looked up. "I'll head towards Medford and you go towards Manotomy. I shall meet you again in Lexington and we shall go on to Concord, if we are not captured."

"Let us hope not," the other answered. "Good luck."

"To you as well," Paul nodded and they were off again.

Their rides were quick and smooth, warning the Minutemen of the coming wave. But that was all interrupted when Paul was spotted.

"Halt Paul!" came a shout.

"Stand down Redcoat!" he shouted back.

Ben stopped, confused. He looked down at his obviously brown coat and then looked back up, an eyebrow raised questioningly, his arms folded. "What did you say, Mr. Paul Revere Gates?"

Paul grinned. "It's a game," he said, pointing towards a tree, "It was his idea."

Ben turned to see Riley walking out from behind the tree. "How dare you rat out your senior commander!" Riley accused jokingly.

"It's just dad," Paul said.

"And mom," Abigail added. She walked up to her husband to stand behind him looking down at the birthday boy. "Tell your friends it's time for cake," she added.

"Alright! Cake!" Paul shouted, mounting his "horse" (stick) to tell the "Minutemen".

"Hold up!" Ben called. His son stopped, turning back to look. "Where's your sister?"

"In Lexington," Paul shouted back, then took off again.

The parents frowned and turned to Riley. He pointed to a giggling pile of bushes. They nodded.

"Got ya!" Abigail said, pouncing into the bushes, swooping up her daughter into her arms.

"Help, help, I've been captured!" the girl shouted while giggling.

"Come on birthday girl, time for cake," her mother said.

"Cake!" she shouted happily, much like her brother did.

"Let's go catch up with your brother," Abigail said.

"Can Roosie come too?" her daughter asked, holding up the small teddy.

"Yes Charlotte, the bear can come too. Now run along," Ben said.

The three adults walked along the lawn slowly, following the twins and their friends towards the house.

"Can we wait until they're at least ten before we teach them to rebel?" Ben said, turning to Riley.

He smiled. "What? Six isn't old enough yet? You're never too young to learn about history."

The parents laughed.

"Wait," Abigail said, "If the kids were all outside with Riley, then who turned on the two flashlights in the window?"

Riley smiled. "That would be Patrick Henry," he said as they arrived at the front door, "Seems you're never too old to learn about history either."

Abigail smiled as Ben rolled his eyes. "Dad!" he called as he walked though the door.

"What?" Patrick Henry Gates asked incredulously. He appeared smiling from the kitchen. "Come on before these hungry rebels eat all the cake."
