Lani: Here we are, November 5th. This contains spoilers (of course), and it's from L's POV to Light. Now, the inspiration behind this: I randomly stumbled across the quote "Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings," and my thoughts immediately went to Death Note. With the slight reasoning behind this cleared up, please enjoy.
Disclaimer: Death Note, that aforementioned quote, etc. do not belong to me. But the poetry I write is mine, thank you.
Wings
. . .
The chiming declares my death day;
So loud, it takes my breath away.
I would give it all just to stay,
But I guess it should end this way:
I, silent, looking up at you,
Engrave this final sight so true;
One day I'll laugh and cry for you.
.
For when those bells sang,
My death began.
When those bells did ring,
God gave me wings.
.
Chorus –
And this rain doesn't make me cold,
It just shows me the angels know;
They know the toll.
For some things you cannot repent.
And will you ever be forgiven?
Will this soft rain ever ease your torment?
Never again.
.
Only one comfort I can have,
Only as I draw my last gasp,
Your smile finally passes.
Keep one memory; all I ask
Is that you retain this moment.
Dear friendship is already spent,
But please freeze this one pang of guilt.
.
Still, when those bells sang,
My death began.
When those bells did ring,
God gave me wings.
.
Chorus –
And this rain doesn't make me cold,
It just shows me the angels know;
They know the toll.
For some things you cannot repent.
And will you ever be forgiven?
Will this soft rain ever ease your torment?
Never again.
.
Feel that pang in your scarlet heart,
For now and even till you part;
And on my grave justice shall mark
My every wish and every hurt.
That you had to be my ending
Is too much for my sanity;
But you will never have to worry.
.
For when those bells sang,
My flight began;
When those bells did ring,
God gave me my wings.
.
Chorus –
And that rain didn't make me cold,
It just showed me the angels knew;
They knew the truth.
For some things you cannot repent.
Your dark sins can I ever forgive?
Will my soft rain ever ease your torment?
Never again,
Only in heaven.
.
When the church bells sang for me,
God gave me my wings . . . .
Lani: Thank you for reading! Comments and critiques are always appreciated. Yes, today we are in mourning, but on a lighter note: Go Obama, our 44th President! XD
