Roselyn's Story

Part I: My Cousin

Roselyn, a Gallifreyan, was hard at work. It had been 6 months since her cousin had lost his body. She was able to hold his soul in place using her telepathic powers, but she knew that it wouldn't last forever. She was unable to sleep during this time, which was quite strenuous on her regenerative abilities. She had changed form at least three times. She had done some studying of the science of other worlds and had found something that might work. From the world of Amestris, a science called Alchemy had the ability to bond a soul to an inanimate object. It was the only think that would work, even if only temporarily.

Forming a seal of blood on a suit of armor, she drew a human transmutation circle on the ground around her with a pen. She found herself in a large white room with a big grey door behind her, and in front of her sat a small white figure.

"So, you must be Truth," She said.

"I am called by many names. Some call me God; others, the World. I am the Universe, I am One, I am All, Which also means that I am you," replied Truth.

"What will I lose?"

"Why don't you find out for yourself?"

Roselyn found herself flung through the Gate, seeing things that she could only dream of and beyond. She then found herself back with the suit. She felt a massive pain in her chest. The suit quivered, made a slight noise, then fall into pieces. Roselyn nearly screamed with disbelief.

Roselyn had lost one of her hearts, and the suit had rejected her cousin's soul.

She had to try again. She replaced the suit with an exo-skeleton from her Tardis. She tried again, redrawing the blood seal and preforming the transmutation again.

"Back so soon?"

Roselyn found herself staring at Truth again. "Why?" she pleaded, "Why did it reject my cousin's soul?"

"See for yourself."

Again, she was flung into the Gate; again, she found herself before the object that was meant to hold her cousin's soul; and, again, she had failed.

This time, she had lost her regenerative ability.

Once more she went into the Tardis and pulled out a robot that was her assistant. She drew the blood seal a third time and preformed human transmutation a third time. She found herself again before Truth.

"Will it work this time?" she asked.

Truth only smiled.

After being flung through the Gate a third time, she found herself weak and barely able to look up. She felt herself get picked up by metal arms and heard before she fell into unconsciousness, "Well done, cousin."
