Mollie has run away to Foxwood farm, we do know that, but what we do not know what she has been up to. In this short story it will be explained. The fat red faced man was very caring for her, but one of the men at Foxwood remembered Mollie as the mare that had ran away from the battle of Cowshed and kicked her out very rudely. For the next few days Mollie didn't know what to do. She decided that she should try another farm but when she introduced herself to the animals in neighbouring farms they just would say "scram, you do not belong here" having heard news that she was the mare who had interacted with humans.
For the next months she was looking around for a shelter and good food (of course Mollie was a very picky eater). Mollie was very hungry and her precious red bow in rags she found a comfortable cave with moss on the ground, berries and tasty plants just outside the cave. Mollie decided that this place would be an okay place to sleep (hoping it was not permanent). Because she barely ever came out of this warm and protective cave only to eat and drink from a stream nearby thinking that she would be harmed by other animals roaming the surrounding forest. The nickname that was given to Mollie was The Mare of the Cave. You must be wondering who gave her this name; of course it was the animals that live near the cave and eventually it was spread to other animals in the area. One day the news got to animal farm and napoleon was the one to get the news, he didn't tell any of the other animals knowing it would cause an even bigger problem with the animals who didn't trust him too well thinking that it would get them more angry with Napoleon. But Napoleon told Squealer, and then he told to give the birds who knew of Mollie's whereabouts to tell her never to come back and she was not welcome at other farms, no matter how much she hated humans or liked them.
Now back to Mollie, when she got the message from the bird she knew that the cave is where she would be living for a very long time. She knew she had to train, train for what you must be wondering, to train to protect herself against things that could harm her. She would bring pieces of wood and sticks from the forest, what she would do with these sticks and wood? She would practice kicking the wood and snapping the sticks. At first she was quite clumsy with kicking the wood; she would often land on her underside and try once more. After many weeks of practicing and with nothing else to do one becomes quite good at this one thing they are practicing. By the end of the month she could kick the wood across the cave and shatter it on the opposite wall.
One day a bear cub was eating berries from the berry bush outside her cave. Mollie got quite upset about this (Mollie didn't like other animals much now) and The Mare of the cave decided it was a good idea to try out these new skills of hers so she walked up to the cub and gave him her best kick. With the bear being a very young bear he was killed instantly. Now Mollie (who was feeling quite good about this) decided that this was an end to her training and felt that she was strong enough to protect herself. The mother of this cub heard the news of her dead cub and decided to pay the cave mare a visit. A full grown bear being much different (stronger, braver and more tempered) from a cub came into Mollies cave and a great fight arose. Mollie kicked the great bear as hard as she could but this only made the bear frown at Mollie and the bear went up on its two legs and scratched her with its great claws and then leaned over and bit Mollie's neck. Mollie's death was a view minutes after the powerful bite, and this is how the story of the Mare of the Cave's story ended
