Chapter one

I opened my eyes to find myself surrounded by water. I tried to shout, but I couldn't. Suddenly, I saw a huge shadowy figure approach me. "What in the world is that?" I thought. My question was soon answered as the figure came closer…it was a shark. It opened its huge jaws and was about to bite me in half. I swam for my life, and I felt my body slam into something hard. THUMP. Everything was black.

18 year old Matt opened his eyes to find himself lying beside his bed. He was tall, had short dark brown hair professionally cut with bangs that stop right above his eyes. He slowly sat up, and realized it was all a nightmare.

Just then, an average height teenager the same age as Matt appeared at the door. Like Matt, he had dark brown hair, except his goes right down to the bottom of his neck with no bangs. "Matt, you idiot, I don't know how you manage to fall off that huge bed of yours in your sleep."

"Oh, shut up Bryan." I hissed back.

Bryan's took a step back. "Hey man, you ok? I was just joking."

I let my expression soften. "I'm sorry. I guess I'm still kinda exhausted from a bad dream. Don't worry, I'll be alright. Meet you guys at the studio at 3:30pm."

After eating breakfast, I wandered through the streets of Japan while listening to the demo of our new song. Suddenly, a soccer ball flew out of nowhere and hit me hard on the head. Everything became very blurry and I blacked out. When I woke up I heard many small voices.

"…Oh my god, is he dead?" "…Course not, stupid! He's breathing…" "I told you not to kick that ball so hard! Now you're going to be in deep trouble…"

I slowly sat up and found myself surrounded by little kids no older than 7.

"Everyone, move back and give him some air." Someone said. A girl around my age knelt beside me and gave me some ice. "Here, this should help." She was quite tall for a girl, and had beautiful features and a perfect figure. Her hair was chocolate brown with red highlights.

"Are you…an angel?" I asked. She sure looked like one.

She giggled. "No, you're not dead yet. Maybe you should come inside and rest." She said pointing to a school not far from where we were.

The kids led the way into a classroom inside the school. I let them pull me to a chair. I watched as the girl sat down and pulled out a guitar. She played a tune and the children started singing.

After a few songs, a little girl asked "Miss Lei, won't you sing us a song?"

She smiled. "Alright, but we only have time for one. This song is called Cry."

As she sang, her voice blew me away. "She's like an angel..." I thought. I was brought back to reality when the kids started running out of the classroom. I sat down beside her and noticed one of my group's CD's on the table. "You're a fan too?" I asked.

She nodded. "Their voices are mesmerizing."

"I see." "So she's just the same as all the other girls," I thought, feeling slightly disappointed. I waited for her to ask for my autograph, but my reply was followed by silence. "Don't you know who I am?" I said, slightly confused by her behavior.

"No, I'm blind." She said, smiling. She took her sunglasses off, showing me her lifeless eyes.

I was speechless. "I'm sorry." I whispered, not knowing what else to say.

"There's no need to apologize." She said. "So tell me, who are you?"

I told her who I was and all about our group. "Oh no, look at the time! I'm going to be late for my recording!" I said goodbye and left before she could say another word.
