Could be a little OOC for Katara, but I realized that I have never written a Kataang fic ever, so this is my first one! Anyhoo, I was inspired, yet again, by the lunar eclipse, and Katara is a waterbender, so... perfect! I hope you enjoy it and not have too much complaints!
EDIT: Just in case you didn't know, I wrote this story because of the lunar eclipse on the night of April 14 (meaning in the wee hours of April 15).
"Wh-What?"
Katara tried bending her water into her cup for a midnight drink—it wasn't working.
"What's going on?"
She tried to do other bending—it still wasn't working.
"A-Aang... sweetie..."
Panic started to fill her voice. Tears started forming at the edge of her eyelids.
"Katara, what is it?"
"I... I can't bend...!"
She collapsed, and Aang caught her just in time.
"I... I feel so weak... Disconnected... Weak...!" Katara started shaking in Aang's arms. "I... I don't know what to do... Aang, please help me." She looked up at him with pleading eyes. "Stay with me."
He nodded reassuringly and held her tightly in his arms. "Don't worry, sweetie, I'll stay here with you. I'll stay here with you until the lunar eclipse ends."
"Lunar... eclipse?" Her eyes questioned him. All at once, she understood. "Oh...! That's what's preventing me from bending, isn't it?"
He nodded. "Yeah. It's kind of like firebenders and solar eclipses, except it's with waterbenders and lunar eclipses."
"I see..." She nodded her head vaguely as she started to get up. "I think I can face it now. It's not permanent, anyway." Aang helped her up and gave her another reassuring hug. "Thank you, sweetie."
He smiled warmly. "Of course."
She cleared her throat. "I'm sorry for being pathetic at that point, Aang. I really am."
"You don't have to be. Everyone has a weakness. All that matters is that you can get over that weakness." Aang smiled warmly again.
Katara smiled and sighed with relief. "I'm so glad you understand. I love you so much, sweetie."
Aang gave her a loving hug. "I love you even more."
"Shall we get back to sleep, then?
Of course!"
