A/N: Okay, so I've been wanting to write a story about Lilly and Oliver's relationship for quite a while now...mostly because my own love life is completely confusing and I need a way to express my feelings...lol. But anyway, I've finally decided write it...so tell me what you think!! :)

The gum in her mouth had long since lost its flavor, just a disgusting, dissolving piece of something to chew on as she sat nervously in front of the screen. Of course he wouldn't be online tonight. Naturally. Of course she would still wait. Like an idiot. Of course he'd gotten over her. Of course she hadn't gotten over him.

It was late. Past midnight. There was absolutely no hope that he was even still up, yet…somehow she could not bring herself to even walk away from the computer for a moment. It wasn't that she was addicted to the Internet, no, not at all. It was him that she was addicted to. And hopelessly addicted—there was no rehab that she could escape to, nothing in the world that would cure her.

Her eyes were beginning to droop as she sat there, arguing with herself on whether she should stay sitting there or go on to bed. Sleep sounded wonderful—she hadn't slept well in weeks—but then again, she needed to talk to him. To really talk to him, and only him. She hadn't done that in weeks either.

And deep down she knew that sleepless nights would continue as long as there was silence between them. Without knowing his thoughts, without knowing his feelings, without knowing where their relationship stood, she could never again sleep without waking up every half hour.

A knot formed in her stomach and for a moment she couldn't remember how to swallow as she realized what was happening to her. I'm like a dog, she thought with horror, a cute and innocent puppy dog, torturing herself by plopping down in front of her master, panting and whining, begging for food that her master will surely never offer.

She sighed, changing her status from available to unavailable and once again, returning to her room sadly for another long night.

The worst part was that she just didn't know. Did Oliver like her or did he not?? She didn't know for sure, not with all of his stupid mixed signals. One day, he acted like the sweetest guy on earth and would flirt with her continuously. But then the next day he'd be a total jerk to her and act offended if she touched his shoulder or smiled at him for too long. He was just so darn hard to read!! Everything he did confused her and her life was never simple any more.

She slid under the covers on her bed and closed her eyes, concentrating on the fairy tale that her life used to be…
