Hi readers! Before we get started, I just want to thank you for reading my story. This is my first attempt at a West Wing fanfic, so please review, and tell me what you think (but please be nice!). Anyway, I love the West Wing…and I unfortunately don't own any of the characters…(but I can dream)...so with nothing further ado…
Chapter One
"Donna! Donnatella Moss!" yelled Josh Lyman from his desk.
As she walked into his office, Donna sighed, "Joshua Lyman, I swear if you keep up with this bellowing, I will rip your lungs out! So, what's up?"
"Donna, you realize that if you rip my lungs out I will be in the hospital, and I won't be able to recommend you for a raise?"
Donna rolled her eyes. "Fine, I'll wait until you recommend me for a raise, and then I'll hospitalize you."
"Gee, nice to know that you have such a considerate heart, Donna. Look, I need to see Toby, and then I need to see CJ before her press briefing," instructed Josh.
"Toby's out for lunch," Donna answered.
"Okay, then get Sam."
"He's out with Toby."
Josh sighed in frustration. "Then get Leo."
"Leo's the one who took them both out."
"Is there anyone who didn't go out?"
"I'm here." she smiled.
"Donna, you're not helping!" Josh exclaimed.
"The President's in the Oval Office, if that helps."
"Just get CJ."
"Uh..." started Donna.
"Don't tell me that she's out, too!" cried Josh.
"Well..."
"Donna!"
"No, she's in her office."
"Then get her."
'She's talking to Danny Concannon!"
"What's she doing with Danny?"
"I think he's trying to convince her to go out on another date with him." Donna said.
"Just..."
"I know!" she interrupted. "I'll go get her, and tell her that she shouldn't tell the press the real reason why the fire department was here yesterday."
"How did you..."
"I have ears, Josh. And I'm not stupid, unlike some people."
"Watch it, Donna."
"Oh, excuse me. Only extremely intelligent people light fires in the Mural Room fireplace. The flew of which has been welded shut since when in the 1800's?"
"I get it!" yelled Josh.
Donna turned, silently congratulating herself for getting Josh all riled up, and walked out of his office. She returned a few seconds later, holding a file folder.
"What's this for?" asked Josh as he took it from her.
"You have meeting with Joey Lucas. Speaking of Joey, when are you going to ask her out?"
"Donna, we've been through this a million times!"
"Actually, it's probably only been about seven times."
"You're fired!"
Donna sighed. "Isn't that getting old, Josh? Imagine what would happen if I took you seriously every time you fired me! But you like Joey, don't you?"
"Donna, has it ever occurred to you that when I say that you're fired, you're fired?"
"No, because without me you'd be even later for you meeting then you already are."
Josh nodded, and walked out of his office. As Donna returned to the bullpen, she called, "Don't forget to ask Joey out!"
"Head for the unemployment office, Donna," he replied.
"You can't scare me, Josh!"
Well? Please, please, PLEASE review! I would love to know what you think!
Thanks again for reading!
