It was a thing of beauty, truly there was nothing better than the feeling of being loved, held against a lover's chest by their strong arms, feeling their heart beat and warmth. Something Roderich Edelstein was not stranger to at the moment or any give moment when with his overly cheerful Spaniard boyfriend, Antonio Fernandez Carriedo.
Their relationship had begun strangely, perhaps not as strangely as the university wide famous; Francis Bonnefoy and Arthur Kirkland or even Sadiq Adnan and Heracles Karpusi, but still fairly strange.
Roderich was a high class aristocratic man form a high class Austrian family and Antonio was just. . . Antonio, happy and a bit dim but always kind and caring. They had dated before, back when Roderich still lived in Spain but were forcibly broken apart by Roderich's family when they moved back to Austria.
However, after graduating high school and getting accepted into Hetalia University, the prestigious international school in Florance, Italy, run by an over zealous Roman headmaster and a grumpy Germanic dean of students.
Antonio and Roderich had met once again, Antonio liked to call it fate, he had said that they were soul mates, linked by a single red string, Roderich called it luck and chance but never denied Antonio's theories. In the beginning it was decided that they remain only very close friends.
That failed after only two months.
Between the dated Roderich was asked on and the stares Antonio's backside frequently received, jealousy prevailed and broke their resolve. they were found making out passionately by Vash Zwingli and Tino Väinämöinen who were on their way to gun club when they heard strange noises coming from a closet.
Thinking someone was trapped and most likely hurt, they opened the door and to their surprise; found the couple half dressed. Tino apologized and walked away quickly, Vash shook his head at his old best friend and left soon after but it wasn't until they were found again by Feliks łukasiewicz that everyone finally knew.
They were teased constantly but it never bothered them, that was the norm for new couples after all, being taunted by friends was tradition, a way of being counted as official.
Now, in the late evening, after all the classes had been held and the stars began to shine in the dark sky, they lay quietly on Antonio's soft bed, fast asleep and happy to have been brought back together. Whether it was by fate, chance, string or luck, it didn't matter to them in their moments of gold.
