Max P.O.V.
So. This is it. Four years of homework, bad teachers, hormones, and a freshman hall that reeks of puberty. Officially a Class of 2013 graduate. Ready to take on the next big thing. To take hold of the future in my hands and build a new path for me to follow. Finally ready to take the next step.
"I mean it. This room better be completely clean by the end of the week or else, no trash, no junk, no more school papers, get rid of that god awful poster…." I'm sitting here droning at the sound of my mom as she rants on what the definition of clean is. Okay, so my next big step in life is cleaning my room to avoid the wrath of my OCD (obsessive cleaning disorder) mother. Not exactly what I pictured but hey it's a start…for me.
Who is me?…ooo bad grammar. My name is Maximum Skye Ride. Due to perverted teenage boys I go by Max Martinez (my mother's maiden name). In high school I was the outcast, loser, nerd, weird, any other synonym you can think of. It's not like I worshipped spirits or play with my snot. I was polite and civil about a third of time. Heck I never even gossiped or spread one rumor. But somehow fate still came up against me in that hell of a place.
You'd probably think then that going to college next year would be exciting and a great change of scene for me. Yeah no. Why no? Because I'm the girl who skipped first though third grade. I'm the girl who took the number one ranking from the other kid that did their full thirteen years of school. I'm the girl who walked across the stage still a minor. I'm the girl that graduated at the age of 15.
Yeah, so you see why I am s… "Maximum Skye Ride are you listening to me, you are and adult now and you better start acting like one I swear I feel like I'm talking to a wall sometimes…" and there she goes again…wait up a sec…adult?
"Legally I remain a minor until I reach the age of 18. I can see your confusion though as to the fact that hypothetically I will be assuming an adult's role in the next few years but hypothetically I will remain a kid."
She's looking at me like I have a dog growing out my ass.
Well, I thought I was being helpful.
Her face softens as she opens her mouth again. "Sweetheart, I need you to promise me something when you go to college…" she pauses and I nod for her to continue, "live in the moment, make mistakes, do the wrong things , fall in love, fall out of it, study hard and laugh harder… just don't wish it away your going to California for crying out loud this is a huge change from Kansas. There's going to so much to see and do. Just promise me you'll remember to have fun. Please?"
I gaze at her for a moment and then dismiss her with an I'll try. She walks out of the room leaving me time to think. "AND CLEAN YOUR ROOM!"
I flop down on my bed. Lord help me.
AN: Sorry the beginning is kind of slow the next chapter will skip forward to when she is moving into college. I would love to hear what you think so far good and bad. I'll try my best to update quickly but I'm not making any promises. I had an angry reviewer after me last time with a chainsaw cause I didn't update on time. Do not want a repeat.
