She walked in like they were all old friends. Like she belonged with them. Please. The commonalities started and stopped with the black eyes.

"The hell are you doing here?" Wrath growled.

"Funny you ask. It just so happens that I'm celebrating getting out of Hell," Ruby answered, perfectly languid. "Noticed you guys hanging out at Cheers here and decided to stop by. Grab some food, grab some entrails, you know. Share the moment."

"Liar!" Greed snapped.

Ruby shot her a look across the bar. She rolled the accusation around, shrugged, and then smirked, settling herself into a table booth as if she weren't chest-deep in a lion's den. Greed might've been impressed by her fearlessness if Ruby didn't piss her off so bad. "Got me there," Lilith's little chewtoy said. "Okay. I came because there's a juicy little secret right under your noses and somehow, not one of you Seven Dwarfs caught wind of it. So I figured I should be nice and spread the word."

Greed glowered, utterly unamused. "Then spread it. And then go."

Ruby chuckled, widening her eyes mockingly at Greed. "Ooh, not very romantic. Buy me a drink first, baby. Then we'll talk."

They conferred with a look. They didn't like her attitude and wanted badly to torture it and any information she might have out of her, but wouldn't Lilith be angry at them for touching her toy?

Greed brought her a damn bottle. Ruby was looking at her again when a shadow crept over her face. When Greed was setting the bottle down in front of her, Ruby spoke to her, dropping her voice quiet enough that even Greed could barely hear her.

Greed's eyes narrowed. She stared at Ruby, and Ruby stared back at her. Not elaborating. She popped the beer cap with a fingernail and drank.

Slowly, Greed withdrew back to the sides of the other Sins. She felt their confusion and their probing eyes, but she didn't answer it. She wouldn't know how to answer it.

She noticed Ruby was no longer looking at her, and a strange chill ran through Greed's borrowed bones.

You should run, Ruby had murmured, as if it had been a secret only for her. The fuck did that mean? They were free. They had nothing to fear topside.

What would Ruby try to warn her about?
