Disclaimer: I do not own Bones. Thanks for all the lovely reviews to What She Said. This is Temp's view on the events. :D

Change.

She walked alongside Booth as they made their way down the street. The warm late summer day had given way to a warm late summer night. She knew there was very little chance she would get any sleep again. She hadn't really slept since the day Vincent Nigel-Murray had been murdered. She smiled slightly as she tried her best to listen to Booth as he talked about parenthood and change. Out of everyone she knew her life had been touched by grief and change more often than could be expected for a woman of her age. It didn't mean she could cope with it any better than the others. She hated change. She hated loosing people and now she had something happening in her life that would change everything forever. What she didn't know was whether the change would be positive.

"Aw, come on Bones." Booth smiled at her as they paused on their journey. "Of course a baby changes everything. Angela and Hodgins are soon going to find out everything is different. But change is good, right?" He stared at her as she froze. She had to tell him. She knew she had to tell him. Since he had met her at her apartment she had been trying to tell him but the words wouldn't come. It was as if they got physically stuck in her throat.

"I." She paused as he raised an eyebrow waiting for her to continue. In that second she knew, everything was about to change. Her and Booth, the Jeffersonian, her friends, her Dad, Russ. Their world was about to change and all because she had been selfish enough to seduce Booth without even thinking about contraception. She was always careful. ALWAYS. She looked away, obviously not always she reminded herself. It was now or never.

"I'm pregnant."

It was the look of complete shock and slight disappointment in his eyes that nearly broke her. He hadn't said a word, just stared at her. She wanted him to say something. She needed him to say something. Then she realised she hadn't finished.

"You're the father."

Her heart nearly exploded in her chest through the sheer nerves, although she knew that could never happen. She was sure she was going to either cry or vomit. Her stomach in knots as she waited for Booth to answer. Then she saw it. The smile. Not his charm smile, not his get out of trouble with Bones smile but the one that lit up his face. The one that made her knees ever so slightly weak. And that was when she agreed with Booth. Change could be good.

A/N slightly longer than I intended. And I know it doesn't follow the exact script of the scene where she tells him. Please review.
