I FINALY got to see 7x13 and 7x14 and I have to say I am a fan! The girl always sees it differently and Jack and Lisa are two very different people with two very different perspectives! I have always loved their relationship because of the complexity, they are so different, you would never expect the two of them to be together but they are and its because they truly love each other and that seams to conquer health scares, ex husbands, and just plain stubbornness!
So I was inspired the other day to write this one shot. I feel that I could and might develop it in to a story later on. I am kind of wanting to see how the finale ends before I began my summer writing project. If I like the ending I might continue off that but this has potential as well.
This takes place shortly after the events of 7x14 about two months to be exact.
Jack Bartlet walked quietly beside his girlfriend Lisa Stillman through one of Heartland's green fields, cattle milling about. "So, I was thinking. There is a new restaurant opening up in Hudson. Don't know if it will be any good but I was wondering if you wanted to go on Friday?"
Lisa stopped walking, her feet frozen in place. This was not what she wanted any more. They had done it before and it had never been right. She loved him but the last six years had been so- so- so unproductive. "Jack, I don't want to do this. We have done this before, dating. I don't want to go down this same road, we did it for six years and I don't want to do it for six more then find ourselves in the same position we were two months ago."
Jack couldn't believe the words he was hearing. He loved this woman but she was breaking his heart again! He was trying to change, offering to take her to a nice fancy restaurant. "Lis, things will-"
Lisa took Jack's hand, "I love you. I just want to figure out where this relationship is going. I don't want things to end but I certainly want this time to be different. To mean something."
Jack looked at her confused, "Mean something? What's that supposed to mean?"
"We dated for six years and we always had the same problems. They would just keep popping up. The same ones over and over." Lisa paused, "Jack I want this to be different. I want this to be forever, and when I say that I am not really talking about marriage. But you are the only person I want to be with and I don't want to be without you." Lisa took a deep breath. "I want to know why things went sour the first time."
"When things get tough you run. You walk out. We get in a fight you storm out and I always came after you. Last time I didn't. And I shouldn't have to. But we are both two hot headed independent people. Lis, you drive me up the wall sometimes. But I am not going to let you get away ever again."
Lisa's face lit up. "I don't want to run, but we are so different. And half the time I want to KILL you but I love you. I want things to be different and I want you to know that. I have changed and I think you have to but the biggest mistake we made was not communicating. And I want to be perfectly clear that this is different."
Jack wrapped his arms around Lisa's waste. "This is forever."
Lisa grinned and kissed him. Things would be different this time.
Please review! It makes me happy! :D
