I. Physical Attractiveness
He was definitely something to look at.
It wasn't the same, rugged, masculine kind of handsome that was so commonplace in her life (not that she was complaining). He wasn't hard or tough looking, but that didn't mean he was feminine, or girly. She thought, it was the kind of beauty that transcended gender. She adored his fair skin, his supple yet toned physique, even his stern, cold looks. But above all else, his eyes. Their cold, austere blackness, and their burning, passionate red.
She takes it as a sign that, like those eyes, he has two sides.
II. Proximity
Naturally, they saw each other most every day.
Being on the same team was something of a dream come true for her. She remembers when he first caught her eye, many years ago. He was different, then. He was still quiet, of course, but there was a warmth to his silence, as if he was listening, instead of analyzing. She hoped that, when they met again, many years later, that he'd have opened up a bit more. He hasn't, and that disappoints her.
But she still likes to be around him; having that feeling that she's standing a little too close to him.
III. Similarity
They don't have a lot in common, she realizes one day.
He's quiet, where she's loud (not loud, per se, but louder than he is). He's calm and calculating, where she's emotional and instinctive. In fact, the only thing she can think of that they do have in common, is that they're on the same team, and (typically) work towards the same goals. However, that doesn't phase her.
She loves him, and the feeling is stronger than steel and already too real to take back.
IV. Self-Disclosure
She can't remeber the last time they've actually talked.
It's not that they talk too much, it's that they don't talk at all. He's usually busying himself with preparations for a mission, and she cares too much about him to interrupt him. And she finds it jarring, when she notices he talks more to everyone else than to her. What makes her to untouchable to him, that he refuses to tell her anything? In the back of her mind, she tells herself that it's a lost cause.
She still hopes.
