Ryuuzaki smiled, handing a man behind the counter a two thousand yen bill, exchanging it for two jumbo bags of cotton candy, ten pieces of taffy (which was almost pure sugar), and one enormous lollypop.
Raito sighed. "You know, Ryuuzaki, by the time you're done buying candy, the fireworks will be over..." Ryuuzaki had been buying things from the summer festival all day - and Raito was stuck carrying it all.
Ryuuzaki shook his head. "No, Raito. We're not going to lose track of time here. We still have twenty minutes to get to the fireworks." Ryuuzaki's thumb was quickly put back into his mouth as he placed the candies he had just bought on the mound in Raito's arms. "Raito, I'm finished, now. I think we can go and get our spot for the fireworks."
They had been to the park earlier in the week, and picked out a spot beneath two cherry trees. It was quite far from where the fireworks would be let off, so they would most likely have privacy.
Raito felt his wrist being tugged by a very impatient Ryuuzaki. That's just like him, Raito thought, a small smile tugging at his lips. First he dawdles and doesn't want to go, then he gets all impatient.
Ryuuzaki pulled Raito by the wrist, all the way to the place they had picked out.
Raito smiled, taking a blanket out of a small bag he packed for the occasion; he also had two sparklers, a lighter, and one other blanket. The second blanket was just to keep warm, and so they had an excuse to cuddle up together.
Raito began to flap the blanket in the air, asking Ryuuzaki to hold the other end so it would be easier.
"Oh! That kid just dropped cotton candy!" Ryuuzaki let go of the blanket, allowing the wind to pick it up and seem to attack Raito. Ryuuzaki blushed, running to help Raito out of the blanket. "Sorry, Raito-kun..."
Raito sighed and smiled. "It's alright, L."
Ryuuzaki pressed a small kiss to Raito's lips. He felt Raito's tongue stroking his lower lip, begging for entrance, and denied, pulling away. He loved to tease Raito like that.
Once Ryuuzaki actually agreed to help Raito set the blanket up without distractions, they were quickly able to sit down.
"L?"
"Hmm?" Ryuuzaki seemed distracted.
"Are you cold yet?" Raito spoke quietly, tentatively.
Ryuuzaki smiled, grabbing the other blanket, and cuddling close to Raito's chest. "How much longer until the fireworks start, Raito-kun?"
Raito looked at his watch. "Any minute now, L."
Ryuuzaki cuddled close to Raito, turning his head to look towards where they were letting the fireworks off.
The first firework - a green one - lit up the deep, black night sky with a loud crack that reverberated off the walls of the steel buildings nearby. It then crackled, and fell away from the sky with a gold glitter.
Then, after the green one, there was purple. This one was different; it was made to look as though hundreds of small bugs were crawling through the sky.
"Raito-kun... those are my favourites." Ryuuzaki smiled.
Raito wrapped his arms around Ryuuzaki's waist, pulling him close. "Well, you're my favourite."
Ryuuzaki blushed. "Raito-kun!" He cuddled closer to Raito's chest.
"L?"
Ryuuzaki made a small "mmph" noise into Raito's chest, most likely meaning "what?".
Raito smiled, grabbing onto Ryuuzaki's chin and making him look up, kissing him on the lips. Raito's tongue slid across the other man's lower lip, again, begging for entrance, which was quickly granted. It was a fight for dominance; Raito was winning.
Ryuuzaki had nearly forgotten about the fireworks, and jumped as the grand finale began; the fireworks were let off in quick succession, loud cracks reverberating off the steel buildings, the loudest noise either of them had ever heard. Raito hugged Ryuuzaki close, contented. Ryuuzaki was a great kisser.
"L?"
Ryuuzaki looked up.
"I love you."
"I love you too, Raito-kun."
