Chapter 1 – Kagome Higurashi
"Mom come on!" The neighborhood could hear the exclamation through their windows. On the front lawn in the center house on the street, there was a group of teenagers posing and laughing as an older woman snapped photos. The teens looked happy and excited. There were four of them, two boys and two girls. One of the girls was above average height with black hair, hazel eyes, high cheekbones, and a flirty smile. She was in a blue dress with a corset top that accentuated her small waist and flared out around the curve of her hips to rest just above the ground. There was a slit up the side of the dress, showing the curve of a golden leg up to mid-thigh. A blue rose was wound into her hair, which was up, making her neck look elegant and long. She was doing most of the posing, twisting her body, grabbing onto the others, flinging her arms and laughing.
"Sango Taijia! Don't encourage her!" The other girl cried out through her laughter. This girl was much shorter than the first, wearing a red halter dress that hugs her slim body from bust to hip, and then flowing down to the middle of her calves. She had long wavy dark brown hair, a kind heart shaped face, unusual amethyst colored eyes, and plump lips that are curved into a smile. She was half heartedly trying to stop the other girl from posing. The boys with them were looking half amused and half unsure, as if they didn't know what to do, but were enjoying the moment nonetheless.
"Come on Kagome," the taller boy said mildly to the shorter girl. The boy was wearing a black tuxedo with a blue tie that was an exact match for Sango's dress. He had light brown hair, green eyes, a strong jaw, and kind, but reserved eyes. One hand was in his pocket, and the other was running through his hair as he smiled down at Amaya. "Live a little. It is our senior prom."
"I'm ready to live a lot, Inuyasha!" Kagome said in a stern voice. The quivering of her lips as she struggled not to smile gave her away, however. "Souta! Little brother! You're on my side, aren't you?"
The shorter boy, with the same dark brown hair as Kagome, but with honey brown eyes, smirked back at her in his white tux. He had on a green bowtie, suggesting that his date was not present. "I don't know Gome. You keep calling me 'little brother' like you're more than a few minutes older than me, so I may just have to vote against you. Keep on taking pictures Ma!"
The whole group fell into a fit of loud laughter, and the older woman, Souta and Kagome's mother, fell into laughter along with them. "Angelo," she said turning to her husband, "I think I may have enough pictures to compliment the scrapbook. Don't you agree?" While the children had their father's eye shape, hair color, and facial structure, neither one of them looked like their mother at all.
To Kagome and Souta's horror, their stoic father smiled and nodded. "The scrapbook will be magnificent Ariana."
"No! No scrapbook!" the twins cried out.
A limousine pulled up to the curb, interrupting the amusing scene, and two people stepped out of the back, one boy and one girl. The girl was wearing a green dress that matched with Souta's tie, and she seemed anxious to get going. She grabbed Souta, said a quick hello to his mother and started ushering him into the limo.
"Maria!" he called out. "I wanted to say goodbye to my parents!"
Kagome sighed as Inuyasha and Sango hugged both of her parents and moved to get into the limo. The boy who'd emerged from the car acknowledged Inuyahsa and Sango with a smile and a nod before moving towards Kagome and her parents. He was a tall boy. Taller even than Inuyasha, with brown eyes and short black hair. He smiled sweetly at Kagome before turning to her parents to introduce himself.
"Hello," the boy held his hand out to shake Angelo's. "I'm David. I'm sorry we couldn't be here sooner. Evidentially Maria wasn't ready when the limo arrived, so it was very late to get to my house, so we were late getting here."
Angelo shook David's hand with a nod. "It's no problem kid. As long as my twins have a good time, it doesn't matter when the limo arrives."
"You're Damon's friend right?" Ariana asked, shaking David's hand. "I thought your name was Peter."
David flushed and ran his hand through his hair with an embarrassed looking smile.
"Yeah," he said, drawing the word out. "My name is Peter David Miller. I just prefer my middle name to my first."
"Oh!" Ariana exclaimed with a smile and a flutter of her hands. "Gotcha. Well David, it was great to meet you. You kids have a great time, and we'll see you tomorrow, alright?" She then proceeded to nearly drag her husband back into the house with a smirk and a wink at Kagome.
David held an arm out for Kagomewith a cocky smirk. "Shall we Ms. Higurashi?"
A/N: WOW it's been a long time. I sincerely apologize to everyone who was reading this story before. I went through, reread it, wanting to get back to it and I was just so unsatisfied with it as a whole that I've started redoing it. I have the second chapter done, so as soon as I see how you guys like it, I'll post the next one.
