Dark Side of the Moon

Lex Luthor stared at the ornate woodcut panels on the walls in his bedroom. He knew, when his eyes traced the outline of a knight charging on a battle stallion, he was absolutely bored. He sighed and looked over and saw the silky smooth thigh and rump of the woman sleeping blissfully next to him. Victoria Hardwick always kicked the covers off herself.

I could, Lex mused with a grin, simply violate her...again. A hand reached out but just before contact, Luthor pulled it away. Victoria enjoyed sex, yes, but she loved money. Lex knew he was somebody that could provide her with both, without any strings attached.

Luthor himself enjoyed both sex and money, but what did he truly want? Certainly not Victoria, even though she was a fun companion and great in the satin sheets. Lex flopped back onto the sumptuous pillows. No, he wanted something else in his life, more precious than legal tender, more satisfying than tender moments. He wanted more.

Sliding out of the bed, not because he didn't want to wake Victoria (if she woke, he'd give a sly smile and say "go back to sleep" and she would close her eyes and do just that) but because he liked to move smoothly. Lex's nude form went across the way to the huge windowed double doors that lead to his balcony. He pushed open the doors and let the cool Kansas night air sweep around him, chilling the heat from the bed and the sheen of sweat of sex on him.

Without any pollution or tall trees or lights from Metropolis lights to obscure the view, the Moon was full and bright, the circular orb shining down on Lex. The Moon's surface features could be seen from Earth, of course, with a telescope. Some geological landmarks could even be seen with the naked eye. But only one side could be seen. For all the research, high powered telescopes and even satellites, the other side of the Moon was unknown, hidden, black. Lex Luthor liked that fact. It reminded him ...of himself.

He smiled.

He stared at brightness, and it struck him; if he was one side, then surely Clark was the other half. The teen was so pure. Disgustedly so, to the point that it made Lex's faults all the more obvious. 'My dad likes that kid more than his own son,' Lex thought. 'The whole damned town adores that kid. I bring jobs and money and I get ridiculed and leers from...peasants.'

'If they won't love me, then damn it - -' he stepped farther on the cobblestones of the balcony. "- - They will fear me," he finished. His hands were clenched in fists. Lex smiled again, much more relaxed than any orgasm ever gave him, more content than any business deal he completed ever made him feel.

He had a purpose in life now.

I am Lex Luthor. I am the dark side of the Moon.
